Pre season Training from 10/11/25

oh maybe that is it and its just sections of the ground could be im mistaken actually

No game plan and we are in year 4 - dear me.

I kind of see what that might intend to mean.

The best teams execute the basics well more often than their opponents. You can drill in intensive, well thought out, game plans but if you aren’t executing the basics it isn’t going to work.

However, this is the AFL, you need to walk and chew gum at the same time…

Well at least it kind of explains why, in the fourth year of his tenure, we are still none the wiser as to what Brad’s game plan is.

There isn’t one!

I remember when Blitz was hailing Brad Scott’s gameplan in his first match as coach against the Hawks. Good times.

His gameplan also worked well for a while there in 2024.

But other teams worked us out and it turns out we had no other gameplan. In fact, we still don’t.

Or we dont have players that can consistently play well at a high level each week.

Agree with the development. They have a system/gameplan (whatever you want to call it) which allows for them to be far more nuanced with recruiting. Lawson Humphries and Ollie Dempsey aren’t any more talented than the next guy but their strengths are maximised in a good system.

Richmond under Hardwick were the same - don’t get me wrong they had some great players but their chaos style game suited far less heralded players like Castagna, Dan Butler etc.

There is literally no point in having a Senior Coach if he just wants to out-talent everyone.

Didn’t see/notice Scott there today. I’d love to have the senior Coach more hands on with actually developing a sustainable gameplan during a main session.

I personally don’t think he’s the right person for the job so this will be a big year for him.

Who is the right person?

Everyone says Brad is no good but I don see anyone mention who would be better

Always disappointing when the players can’t hit targets at training. No game plan will work unless you can consistently string together 3 or 4 consecutive foot passes.

That’s the biggest issue with the players

Worstfold same skills and mistakes
Rutten same skills and mistakes

Brad looks be having the same issues

Maybe the players are just ā– ā– ā– ā– .

That’s why Rosa focused on players with better quality skills.

note: this is based on training reports which indicate that the most recent draftees seem to have higher quality skills when drafted. I love the positivity on the real youth - looking forward to detailed training reports on their development.

Yep.

No senior coach will succeed untill 90% of the list is turned over and replaced with players who have better skills and that are competitive imo

Notice how the young players we drafted the last 2-3 years don’t seem to have issues under Brad

Yet whenever we want them moved on you object to it.

90%, thats a big turnover. so that would include some of our recent draftees.

its about 30% in reality

Who Merret our best player and still under contract he was never going unless we got a king’s ransom.

Happy to move on players that aren’t up to it like Gresham etc problem is they are hard to move when when no one wants them

Or the usual - ā€˜Nah I’m ok with moving on [insert jobber or washed up injury prone player] but only if we get a first rounder for him. Otherwise might as well keep him’
