We always used to draw a distinction between private school boys and state high school boys, but all those football scholarships have got rid of that distinction.
No, you’re right, we should complement our 20yo pick 4 on learning to kick a footy. How the hell has he played junior footy all his life and not learnt to kick a ball properly.
This is the equivalent of a kid going through school and not knowing how to read. Then Essendon selecting him with their first selection to represent the club at the national spelling competition.
And it’s not uncommon for 18yr olds to need more development. I mean we should know that more than most, we selected David Myers at pick 6 who couldn’t handball on one side, Joe at pick 10 who could kick it a right angles from 10m out.
You make out like it’s obscene for a child to come in with flaws.
Who do you take over him at that spot?
As someone who watches a lot of U18 footy, and only recently rewatched all of that chargers season, there was no player even close to his production and game breaking.
Humphrey has kicking issue’s on par
Phillipou also had patchy kicking and was hot or really cold.
Then who?
Humphrey does not have the same kicking issues. Humphrey can boot the ball 60m and under an AFL system will improve his field kicking like most players. Tsatas has had to completely rebuild his kicking and was getting no penetration on his kicking what so ever.
I don’t understand why people are arguing this point, he plays a sport where kicking is the single most important skill. Yes Tsatas has other traits, but like every top pick that has been a crap kick, they haven’t made it in the AFL system.
I’m not going over and over the same thing, trying to explain to you that they are different.
I agree that Tsatas has been played out of position at AFL level. This doesn’t change the fact that his kicking is an issue. I have seen him play multiple games at VFL level and in most of them his kicking has been ordinary.
I know that everyone desperately wants him to be good (me included) because we invested so much in him, but based on history, we have probably stuffed up yet another pick.
I’m not going over the same thing again and again… but I’ll regurgitate the same cynical view day after day.
If you’ve watched him play VFL then you’d also have to agree there is very little clean open play, and it’s usually very scrappy as a whole. Even nice looking players by foot can be made to look average
