If the club is going to do that you bring in players who want to step up and still aim to play finals not give up on the season
Love love Jimmy Hird but 2001 might have been a bomber premiership year if a fully fit player had played instead of Hird. His groin was cactus on the big day and we led by 20 odd points in the third q.
We will never know!!!
No one said anything about not doing that.
Most people would rather see a fit and healthy young player given an opportunity than watching a higher credentialed injured player struggling around the park.
yep he was probably 50% right and was tagged relentlessly and physically pummelled by the scott brothers. a fit player would have been better.
Lual?
This is so unbelievably ridiculous.
Unless you win, in which case it’s grit and determination and a will to win.
Often they are in a superior team, rarely do they perform at their best.
Well, the superior team would have won anyway then.
Is anyone at the Hanger that can give an actual report on what happened at training today
Went to training this morning. Was a bit tougher to get insights into game plan etc as it just consistently rained all 2 1/2 hours. Ball and ground slippery.
Had the pleasure of meeting Jayden Nguyen’s father this morning at training. What a lovely family. He noted Jayden goes to the gym separately three times a week (hence why he is quite strong already). They are so excited for him playing for the Bombers.
Players attitude was good and upbeat . Very vocal at times. It was actually quite physical in some plays. Wright and Langers both had a shoving match when Wright shoved Langers out of a contest(were on opposite teams)
Langers also crunched Redman as he went straight through him in the air to attack a mark.
Thought Langers was the stand out.
But kicking was pretty good considering the conditions.
Kako ball handling is a stand out. Very clean one touch which is not bad considering others had some fumbles in the wet.
Normally taller forwards go missing in wet but Caddy showed me why he is so valuable. He continually showed his ground ball game is great. Had numerous plays scooping the ball off the ground and finding a player in a better position. Took a strong nice overhead mark in the wet also.
Nguyen has a great ability to get a handball out in tight when you think it’s going to be a dead ball situation. Has more body strength than i realised.
Players seem to be getting along quite well with the new draftees. Seemed already to be comfortably talking and cracking jokes. Talked to one official who really likes Zak Johnson’s game… liked him as a person and attitude too. Zak limited with post shoulder clean up currently.
Funny moment at the end. Each team had a designated kicker to shoot for goal from 40m out on a slight angle. Langers and Jones were chosen. Jones went in for the win and Wright (who was on the mark) jumped high and just got a hand on it even though it still went through. Judged a point by Gia. Jones team mates then physicality beat him up for making them lose.
Haven’t seen full oval match sim drills ever in November so this is quite advanced in timing re learning roles and game plan. Shows me coaches must be happy with early fitness levels.
Thank you
Did you notice any “train-on” players?
You had me at “went to training this morning “ @CJohns
Thanks for the rundown. Extra thanks for venturing out in the persistent rain.
Baldwin i couldn’t see but someone said they thought he was inside. Hoare ran some laps. Not much i saw in actual match sim
Forget about Baldwin. Perpetually injured. We need to be more ruthless as a club, you get a couple years to either prove what you’ve got or get on the park, otherwise it’s sayonara.
Hows Lij tracking? Reckon hes a a round 1 (0) walk up?
LIj?
Sorry, Tsatas
