He seems to be running back to present as an option and picking up a lot of posession as a result. Thats only to be expected, considering EFC are well known as not running both ways especially in preseason.
Not wanting to criticise the kid in any way and not wanting to make negative comments about the Beverige article, but can training watchers corroborate this report?
Not gonna lie - I thought the skills were shithouse.
But yes, it was a bit windy and there was a sharp rise in temperature half way through the sim. Collingwood happened to be training this morning too. Was tempted to pop in and see if I could make a comparison.
The other thing that has me a little concerned is the oft used 20m sideways kick-ins after a behind. Sure, a team cannot be all run and gun all the time. It’s too risky and we’d be gassed by 3 quarter time. I’d just like to see our slow, impotent ball use addressed. Laboured inside 50’s are hardly damaging.
Yep pushed forward for a nice mark & goal in the 2nd half but given there weren’t many stoppages, the rucks weren’t involved all that much from what I saw
He’s a big lad and competed really well but some of his kicking was pretty dicey. He showed a bit today, want to see more of him to suss whether he’s likely to be an upgrade on Laverde or more of the same
Yeah the skills looked ■■■■ but lual was very impressive which was good. Also no mention by anyone of how saad played, but i did see him at one stage in the videos.
Absolute legends all of you for reporting back to us on these sessions but at a very basic level they seem to be run very haphazard.
Besides the obvious resets and subsequent stoppages there doesn’t appear to be any discernable system or game plan trying to be enforced.
Very little run from behind if noone is presenting up field. Minimal link up handball. Plenty of kick in hope entries into forward 50.
Hope I’m off the mark but still underwhelming with the skills and the lack of intensity leading into the last week of the year where you’d hope everyone was pushing to get the most out of these sessions.
