Canteen? That was what it was called in high school.
In primary school we called it the Tuck Shop.

How cheap was the food back then do schools still have canteens?

I borrowed my 82yo stepdad’s collared shirt to clean the gutters (so that my Ess polo wouldnt get dirty before ANZAC Day).

I decided it looked so good, ive kept it and wear it all the time.

These days it’s delivered from the local cafe, and the sushi sells out first

I don’t speak non decimal, but a pack of twisties was 12c. And a pack of chickadees was 5c.

No wonder $2.00 made me feel like a millionaire at the canteen in 1983-86

I can’t remember the prices either, but my favourite at the school canteen was definitely the Glug. Pretty sure they were <20c circa 1978
