Reserves Premierships

Apologies if this has already been stated, but I cannot see it anywhere else and it might be of interest to some people…

Essendon’s last three Reserves Premierships were in 1982, 1992, and 1999. After the 1982 success, the following year we made the Grand Final in the AFL and then won the Premiership in 1984 and 1985. After the 1992 Reserves success, the following year we won the AFL Premiership. After the 1999 Reserves success, the following year we won the AFL Premiership.

Additionally, in 1941 we also won the Reserves flag and then won the Senior flag in 1942.

There might be even more riding on our potential success in the next (hopefully) two VFL games than we might realise.

Has been discussed a lot in the past. I think for this year, we just have too many players who are a step above VFL but well below AFL standard

Thanks, you are right … the correction is appreciated and actually makes the point even better. 1983 Reserves led to 1984 & 1985 Seniors Premierships more quickly.

AFLW didn’t follow up on 2022 VFLW premiership.

VWFL didn’t follow up on 2025 CWFL premiership (but was one accurate after-the-siren kick from doing so). Gets another chance in 2027.

Pattern is proper broken.

It’s actually a better match than the wheelchairs, where there is limited migration and a points system: we play AFLWs in the VFLW, and we mass-migrated VFLW premiership players into the AFLW.

not shark attacks but a mate of mines friend works for the police and apparently they are extremely highly likely statistically to be offenders of another description apparently
