Result & Reason for the 2026 Season

Was one of my favourite threads each week. Possibly just need one thread per annum.

What’s going to be the result and what is the reason.

Eg

Result: Essendon by 74 points

Reason: @Kozza said so

Round 1 2026 starting soon.

Hawthorn by 6-8 goals

They’ll be sh*tty after last week and I don’t think we’re very good.

Result: Hawthorn by 38 points

Reason: Very young team and terrible (league worst) coaching panel

Them getting a game under their belt is a huge disadvantage to us.

Great to see Brad playing the kids, hats off.

Essendon by 7 points
Why - ChatGPT told me it can’t coach and the result on the same prompt

Hawks by 50 points,

Would be more if Hustwaite was playing

We have holes all over the park. Our defence looks shoddy (can’t rely on McKay) and our forward line is slow.

Hawks by 40 points
Because they are more talented, more experienced, better coached, and more cohesive in forward entries.

Hawks by 49 because our backline is average and I’m not sure our forwards can kick a winning score

Disappointed this is not a gloomer’s thread jumping straight to the end of the failed season.

Hawthorn by 43 points. Why? Greater experience and a clearer game plan.

Hawks by 65

Result - 5 minutes to go - Essendon up by 13 points

    - Siren - Essendon loses by 1 point with goal
       after the siren!
Reason - We started chipping sideways to use up
         remaining time!

They’re momentarily stunned by the unprecedented three debuts in Rd1

Hawks by 19, our midfield dominates but the forwards can’t get it done.

Hawthorn by 46.

Reason… The whole world was shown last weekend that Hawthorn are vulnerable when Newcombe is negated by a tag, yet Brilliant Brad will let him run around doing as he pleases.

Result: no broken plaster or whiteboards in the Hawks rooms.

Reason: Essendon fail to apply pressure so Hawks win comfortably.

Going with my heart.

Dons by 8 - off field stuff this week will put the Dawks off just enough. And will feel the pressure after dropping last week.

Caddy kicks 5 and will send Barrass back to Perth
