I don’t think so. Gresh or Davey or Walla or Mozzie, I think we’ve always managed one. Might be wrong though.
Missed Gresh’s injury. He was playing well. How long is it?.. Serious?
100% agree with the section before the snip.
Don’t agree that what we see ie all those problems you identify in the first paragraph are necessarily caused by poor coaching & game plan.
The game plan when it looks on, seems to include fast ball movement, getting the ball into the hands of key distributors (roberts, reid, prior, durham, martin, merrett), high pressure around the ball, and more precise targeting inside 50. Of course we fail to do execute for long periods.
Maybe there is poor ‘development’ coaching but the underlying reasons why -
- we lose confidence
- can’t do simple things
- don’t defend consistently and cohesively etc
are still a mystery.
We have a lot of developing players, with some negative impact caused by multiple LTIs, a clutch of untried first year talent, and we’re about to get another bunch.
It’s great that hayes will (I expect) play a few weeks, as will zach johnson and 1 or 2 others.
At the same time Scott will pick teams that (he thinks) gives us the best chance to win each week, and I agree with this policy as the benefit of getting (say) #4 rather than #8 (and the flow on) is dwarfed by the benefits this group will get by learning how to win.
Caddy, Kako & co need very much to experience winning and losing and to understand what brings success. Our development will jump when we have 3 to 4 good wins so that our confidence and belief grows.
Groin tightness apparently. No word on its severity yet, though given how short of personnel we were, I don’t think we would have taken him off it it was just precautionary.
I gave up on keeping it together with this club years ago haha.
My tanty aside, I cannot see it at all, future included, with this list or this coach.
He has been useful on secondary efforts and chasing. Will be missed.
Adductor
You will be right. No point following if the lows don’t bring you down. The upside is faith alone hereonend. Stay good.
Not having our half forwards with mediocre skills and decision making sucked up into the contest and kicking to outnumbers ahead of the ball, or being forced to go backwards and sideways ad infinitum.
The positive is that we didn’t all have to spend the weekend waiting until Sunday twilight bounce knowing what kind of game / result this would be
It’s all done & dusted on a Thursday night and the outcome was exactly as expected
I have to agree the backwards and sideways ■■■■■ makes me shouting , but i think we lack forward conversion personell.
Edwards is a miss unfortuantely, Stringer begone, Perkins hit and more miss, menzie not stable, Wright well more wrong… then we need midfielders to kick a score.
and we rarely do.
if that’s what happened (conflicting ump decisions) then a ball-up is the right outcome
You’re not wrong, rarely have I seen us put in such an effort to maintain that game plan
Like the optimism, but we rely on the other mob to fark up
Bontempelli is still the best player in the game imo.
Plenty. Playing terrible against worse opposition is like our favourite passtime.
Pretty much and this makes me laugh they are simply garbage dont know how to win
Only in that I spent the second half of every damn game clutching my chest.
you could put those 3 together , but this season so far merrett and daicos are top of the tree
Demonstrably showing what we have known for a long time - there are different rules for Essendon vs our opponent.
