Martin, Merrett, Ridley, Hobbs, Mcgrath.
But None of them were as good as Jackson, Serong, Ryan or Henry.
Hep ok, Caldwell ok.
Everyone else below average.
Some very below average.
Freo also had top 5 tacklers in stats.
A day following the game and I still canât believe we let one of the softest players in the comp in Liam Henry, run around without an opponent and collect 32 touches. His previous best was 21. Whoever his opponent was on the wing should be worried about the review.
As touched on earlier by Ivan earlier, I reckon the absence of setterfield is being highly underrated. He balanced out the midfield, covering for parish who only knows one way at stoppages, and that isnât defensive accountability.
Lastly, any defence consisting of BZT, Laverde and Kelly is more often than not going to get torched. Poor in one on ones and very poor with ball in hand. Baldwin and Hind in the immediate future must be prioritised to better balance this mix. Further to this, the positioning of Kelly, BZT and Mcgrath from stoppages and centre bounces which allowed freo uncontested marks and goals were simply amateur hour crap
Hopefully just a poor night at the office. Iâd argue that this was solely the one game this year that weâve been battered from start to finish
Right now, Kelly is in James Gwilt territory for me as far as free agent signings go. I just donât see what he offers. Treacle slow, wretched decision maker, regularly burnt man-on-man. Worse still, he totally unbalances our backline.
I donât suppose Alex Pearce is jacked-off with Longmuir and wants out, does he? He torched 2MP last night and a big, strong bull is exactly what our backline needsâŚ
Kelly & Weideman should be VFL players, who offer cover when weâve got injuries.
Unfortunately theyâre best 22. That tells you a lot about this list.
I reckon thatâs on our defenders. Youâre going to lose clearances. We won our fare share and Freo managed to defend them ok. Itâs not like those were lace out passes too.
Bingo!
Hope Brad flogs them during the week disgraceful
We have had injuries though.
Iâm not sure they came to the club believing that and Iâm not sure thatâs how Essendon sold them the idea of joining usâŚ
Theyâre not best 22, they just keep getting selected.
Both were picked round 1.
Theyâre in Brad Scottâs best 22.
Not a surprise, but we Lost The Weekend.
Team | For | Against | Result | Percentage |

VFL | 38 | 91 | L | 42% |
TOTAL | 174 | 251 | 1 - 3 | 69.3% |
The good news is the wheelchairs are back on top of the ladder â and can confirm that by beating the one-game-less Hawks next weekend at The Hangar.
You want that at every training sessionâŚour blokes will have no teeth left
No just for when they put in a stinker which they did last night
Very ordinary game.
Draper missing I donât think can be understated, he often gets us going from out of middle that area we were poor in. Wasnât just all ruck related though, Freo were able to get the ball and get it forward from centre bounces too easily.
Normally a strength of ours kicking goals from centre bounces but just was not working, there were however a number of times got possession but just turned it over/poor disposal.
Team selection wise I think we got it wrong
Hind should not have been dropped for Kelly, his spark and run out of defence we missed. Especially with Redman seemingly being sat on and not his usual output.
We are playing too tall in fwd half. Dropping Menzie to sub was an odd decision. One of Bryan or Weideman should have missed. The latter just offering nothing recently. Wright canât do it all and going to have his off days sometimes as he did vs Freo.
Parish back certainly didnât have his usual impact, been a while between matches for him so somewhat expected. But it also meant we changed our mid dynamic again
âŚ.
In previous games vs top teams have been optimistic weâd come to play. Def got my worries for this upcoming Port clash if we roll out what we just did vs Freo
So was ADJ, people in the crowd got more touches than him today in the 2âs
It doesnât take much really.
sit on or at least curtail merrett, martin and redman and we struggle.
Round 3?
Try the first 5 minutes.
In the past, a loss like that is followed by another three or four of them. It usually takes a bit of time to shake out our inner Essington (even if itâs just for a week).
Iâd like to see how they come back from that.
That was the worst centre clearances weâve had for a while.
There was very little resistance and pressure was very poor.
Our centre clearances are rarely that clean. In years past, our clearances would be out to the wing or half forward flank.
The centre clearances pretty much lost us the game.

It doesnât take much really.
sit on or at least curtail merrett, martin and redman and we struggle.
Curtailing arguably our best three players seems like quite a bit to me.
