Point of small order… I rated Buckley as a coach and said say on this board last year.
Buckley took over from Malthouse and had a very divided list… some wanted MM to stay and the ‘succession plan’ idea didn’t work as intended… mainly because MM won a flag and then kinda thought “actually I think I’ll keep this job”… you also have to remember that the Pies had a VERY old list with Buckley took over… they had been together under MM for many years and held out for that shot at glory - which they got. Also, if you remember, at the time it was considered a very ‘blue collar’ style group… not a huge amount of stars.
From the years when Buckley took over… who are the ‘big’ names still standing that played yesterday? Pendlebury, Sidebottom?
So Buckley was ‘rebuilding’ without being allowed to say the word ‘rebuilding’. This year it appears to be coming together… and that also has to do with the fact that he went and good midfielders… gave away draft picks and talls and got mids. In one way he was a couple of years ahead of the curve. Most of us thought pies would suffer because they have no spine and no stars outside their midfield… but they are now fitting right in with other teams employing the same model (Richmond/Geelong/Dogs).
Buckley is a far better coach than he was given credit for and deserves the praise he is getting. I also believe that Hird and Voss would have had similar success stories if given the time. Hird clearly saga and Voss suffered because a) rebuild required and stuffed up those big trades looking for short term success. History shows that Lions could have stuck with Voss a few more years as Leppa really wasn’t much better. Some would strongly argue we would be in a much better position had the club had a spine and stuck with Hird when he returned. I tend to agree.
So yeah… Woosha got outcoached AGAIN and will continue to do so. He is literally in the bottom 3 coaches in the league and, as I’ve stated before, there is not a single other successful club that would take him as Head Coach if he was available.
Next time just come foe the strippers ane coke, least youll have a good time.
Actually thats what all travelling supporters should peolly do, plan on being in town for other enjoyable stuff, and the football is the last priority on the list. Its gotta suck less.
Its not a direct comment on Woosha as any other coach sitting in that chair would have to toe the company line but we aren’t a football club any longer and haven’t been for a long time.
Swapping out guys like Shawry for RoCo confirmed to me that we don’t have a need for passion at our club any longer.
I’m fkg coming close to full getting a fan petition out to remove X as CEO and get someone the fk in there who cares more about on-field success than any e-sports junk, membership, $$ or corporate functions on match day.
Soft as butter. I think it’s a very appropriate time to be talking about cleanout, and I’d start at the top.
Its the next day and I’m still full of rage and disappointment.
It’s just a game, a dumb sport that means nothing in the real world yet it angers me. why? Maybe that’s more a reflection of the small minded, boring life I lead.
Yesterdays match really cut deep, normally I couldnt give a fk the next day but everything about it I think about and the more angry I get because its the same sh-t over and over and over.
