I didn’t watch either of the preseason games, so didn’t catch the mass depression that infected blitz. But saying that, this performance was a very very pleasant surprise! Clearly don’t expect this to become the norm against more mature sides, but definitely can see the gameplan and pressure focus that Brad Scott has instilled.

Wish we played them every week. Still, essendon of old would have let them within 3 goals. I thought setterfields big tackle on newcombe, and zerrett same in 2nd were the turning point. Big fan of weid and setterfield today, mostly for tackling with intent

Agree with all of this; but, the biggest for me was the leadership from the Captain.
Tackling, chasing, handball, great leaders game.

The Hawthorn toffs sitting next to me said just before 3QT “I loved Sam Mitchell as a player but don’t think he’s up to it as a coach” and then left.

Good luck playing in front of 20,000 each week this year, you stain of a club

We just played better, which made it more obvious. We had the highest efficiency in the AFL last year.

Always fun to watch a belting, especially of the hawks, double especially with Sam Mitchell coaching. Probably doesn’t mean anything in the big picture, of course, but it’s still fun to watch.

Felt like we really ran them into the ground after QT. Makes a lot of decisions & skill execution easier when you have that front position.
