When Hooker is forward, it helps Mitch get free.

GWS win was the one for me. After the eagles flogging I started to accept that finals probably weren’t gonna happen for us but then I went to the GWS game and we were back in the hunt.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a gambling problem. He’s always bitter and sounds gutted when we win after he’s tipped the other team.

Answering the critics about whether we have the toughness physically and mentally pretty convincingly the past 4 games. I’d say the GWS and Swans wins were more of a grind. Didn’t really play particularly well but did enough to get across the line, the Giants win more euphoric given we came from a fair way back in the last. Against North I thought we played quite well for 3 quarters, got dominated in the last but held firm defensively when we probably should have conceded more goal given their dominance in general play, and snuck home at the death. Last night a different scenario. On the road, heavily undermanned, getting pantsed statistically and probably should’ve been further behind at half time, but to hang in there and keep close enough at the break, and then to completely turn the tables 2nd half was a massive, massive sign of character and resilience more than anything else.

We’ve been a pretty gritty, dour team for most of the year. Really haven’t played with any fluidity since the first North game, from Anzac Day onwards we have found it hard to score, but last week and last night it looks as if we are starting to click in attack. The back half has been key in keeping us alive this season, but if the attack starts to fire along with that we will be very difficult to beat. Have to say well done to the boys, all 22 played their roles. Wins on the road like that build belief. A different test next week against an opponent at a low ebb. It will be a sign of our professionalism as a team to see how we handle it…

Given the Mitch Brown doubters (4 goals) and the flog commentators continually blowing Tex Walker, that champion captain, it’s worth watching with Ch7 commentary in the last quarter

  • Tex marks on 50 - “It’s his Mitch Brown moment“ says Bruce & Brian - Tex fails dismally to live up to that standard.
    Fall off couch laughing.

Best win of season by a mile. I’m sure woosha agrees. Why? It demonstrates this squad has probably the greatest depth in the league. Our system starting to click for meaningful periods in matches the last two weeks. Hartley was the most pleasing thing for me. He wasn’t best on, but he was damn solid. And that allows so much more options and setups throughout the ground. He has improved since his last afl match.

Wrapt to have been there to see it live!

I remember a time not so long ago when, 5 goals down in the second quarter, we would’ve gone into damage control and lost by 40 instead of 80.

Now, however, the players have belief that they can win with any personnel, on any ground, and from any position presented to them, and that’s not something that you’re born with or that can be coached on the training track.

Where were they paid? How many goals from spurious frees to each team?

im not gonna whinge about the umpires after a comfortable win.

Picking up that win against Adelaide, which would’ve been quite reasonable to pencil in as a loss, is a massive boost.

It gives us a win in hand, just in case we stumble against a penciled in won.

But that’s more insurance. The boost is to the team’s confidence and belief that they have what it takes to play winning football, even when things are less than ideal.

They can be and are winners. It’ll give the players confidence in themselves,. but also what the coaches have been telling them. And ditto for the coaching staff, and the EFC board/exec. It’s a massive boost across the club.

But if we can do that last night, then why not for the rest of the season? We nailed a great win on the road, and with two more road trips coming up it’s perfect timing to tick that box given our zips this year.

We should be confident to think all remaining games are winnable. The coaches will be wanting to keep a lid on it and focus on the learnings (and yes it’s a real and important thing and you understand what Worsfold is about) and to get better. They’ll know more than anyone how close we are where they want us to be.

Confidence and self-belief in yourself and teammates is a powerful thing. It makes you fearless. You sense a wonderful camaraderie across the group and playing together as a team.

But as @smooth stated above:

This is the key yo how they handle this win going forward to next week and the next. As fans we can go all ■■■■-a-hoot. The players can’t.

Okay, own up, it has to be someone from here.

We need to go thermonuclear on the Suns next week, add roughly 10 more percentage points. Will help a tilt on 4th spot, or at least go someway to ensuring a home final.

It’s posts like this one that make me wish I was a bit more selective with my likes.

A 100 point win adds about 7%. A 10 percentage point boost isn’t going to happen

I want 10%.
