Sydney, Brisbane added their rucks through free agency.

we need a much better one your right to help put a lid on losing clearance by so much. Which destroys you.

But it might not hinder development and the ability to recruit via trade /free agency.

I still worry we haven’t got that obvious jet in the guts. They aren’t all jets from being draft like Nick Daicos was.

But we need to find one to hurt sides like he hurt us today.

Pendles may have won the medal but Daicos did the real damage imho. His touches were absolutely elite and there were heaps of them.

Energy / fitness

When pressure is up we’re OK

When it’s off we’re dogshit

72 tackles last week - 42 this week

Not rocket science

Only way out is through. Keep sending the kids up, KMs in the legs, stringing games together. Lots of tweaks needed

For some reason we have no idea how to defend the MCG. Back to defending space today with no effect.

Comment re - Blakiston

Essendon has to be the only club obsessed with its ruckmen resting/playing as defenders. Bryan started last year playing down back when he wasn’t rucking, Gerreyn who is a ruck/forward has been banished to be a key defender which he’s struggling at and now Blakiston only plays back when he isn’t rucking? I can’t think of one club who has their ruck rest back not rest forward. Like plenty go behind the ball to be there for the kick down the line or fill the hole but who actually plays as a defender and matches up on a forward?

We were flat from pretty much the opening bounce. You could tell right away the energy and effort wasn’t there

Zero excuse for that imo

He was absolutely disgusting today. Back to same old soft Peter wright

Pitiful Peter

Blakiston was forced into playing as a defender due to our entire recognised backline being down to Laverde last year.

I don’t know if he’s a resting forward. He’s played down back before.

Good observation.

And we had to beat them in that area because they have us for experience and sheer elite top end talent.

When we bring fitness and energy we can cover for mistakes kids make when they have only played a few games of AFL footy

I saw that in patches it was just Collingwood were ruthless on our mistakes.

Except for playing up north and the 2 days less rest

Agree. That move was way beyond puzzling, it was downright bewildering.

You have to match or beat every team in that area

The game doesn’t just happen. We’ve probably got 3-4 guys who revert to that mindset.

Of all the seniors he was the worst imo

I thought Caldwell was worse.

I think you’re all making way too much of this. Brad is our next premiership coach so today means nothing. We will get to the promised land either this year or next. Welshy said so… you ■■■■■■■ beauty

Put that 20 year comment aside, it’s irrelevant in terms of this latest list build. Take the frustrated supporter emotion out of it and just think of the business of sorting out the ruck situation the next 2-3 years.

On this list build, we have a bit of time to sort out what the ruck situation needs to be. We will have opportunities and levers over the next few years to add this plank to the broader list build.

With one or two notable exceptions i don’t think Collingwood look it though.

they were just much more skilful(low errors) and experienced(right option) with ball in hand.

the game could have changed dramatically in scoreline if we had of brought heat.

Cameron and Gawn are different types of ruckmen.

Cameron is huge and just outbodied Wright all day.

Gawn wasn’t able to do that.

But that’s the thing- it isn’t irrelevant- everyone’s view on our list build, is it right, how long it will take is completely colored by our own personal experiences and frustration with the club. Can any of us look at it objectively?? I know I cant
