Game of the round feel to it

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The last game was a draw might be in for another classic

Hardly undermanned - they had 3 of their best 22 out - they weren’t far off their best team, bruhn, hawkins and Guthrie the only ones not fit.

You know the same team that was 7-0 at the start of this year

Chris scott said himself his been debating playing him for while

The Chris Scott thread on the Geelong Bigfooty forum is a good read.
Especially the time he had a contract extension in 2021.

And that is for a supporter base of one of the two consistently best run clubs in the last twenty five years.

I wonder if we’ll ever learn our lesson on this. It just doesn’t work against good teams who can firstly, make it difficult for extra number at the contest to impact because their pressure on the ball carrier is top notch, and secondly hurt you with pin point kicking after initially exploiting the overlap they can generate off their sister man in an uncontested defence.

Sending a spare to contested/congested areas just doesn’t work.

lol I remember they had a supporter forum with him and they all wanted to know why he had no plan B!

And a chain of opposition players all the way in to their attacking half. Beggars belief sometimes.

Yep.

So many times standing in the rain seeing hated foes grind us out of it until we give up.

Of course, last night we were beaten by two hated foes.

Reckon it’s only the second time this year we’ve rolled over and given up.

Disappointing.

The response next week will be telling.

Though to be honest I wasn’t terribly impressed with some of our first quarter tackling efforts, lots of broken arm tackles.

2nd quarter we imposed our structure on them but didn’t really have the ferocity we needed at the contest to force our way to good looks with all our field position dominance.

We really lack for an imposing contested marking player up forward and silky speedy crumber.

We’re not helped by a forward line set up that seems devoid of movement and blocking off the ball.

I’ve just watched the 3rd quarter. Missed the game entirely and haven’t seen anything else. No need to discuss the umpiring further other than to say I somewhat expected that a few decisions would have been borderline. How wrong could I be. Every single one was a critical error of the highest order. The AFL must make a statement confirming that (not that it changes anything). Absolutely disgusting.

My overwhelming impression though was that we were really competitive and moved the ball well through that period but just lacked a killer touch. (Dropped marks to Jake and Duz, howler going inside 50 by Marto)

I’ve seen alot of verbals about dropping 2MP and Goldstein. Really??. Goldy spoon fed the ball beautifully to our mids repeatedly and Peter tried his guts out with some fairly poor entries not helping him at all. I get people are frustrated, but from that small sample in a period where we were ‘unfortunate’ those 2 guys deserve no blame at all.

I would have loved to have seen Scott send Zach to the umpires at 3/4 time. It’s exactly what Sheedy would have done. Probably wouldn’t have achieved much but the message would have been loud and clear (something we’ve been missing for 23 years)

I remember Lloyd didn’t say anything but walked up to the umpires and showed them the holding the ball umpire signal. Crowd went nuts.

Thought I might have moved on from last night. Called into my local milkbar on Moreland Road and vented to no end about last nights umpire clusterFLICK and even had sympathy from the woods supporting co-owner.

The boys need to spend double time with the club shrink this week, such a weak willed group of players.

I was there, sitting in the rain. The chopped arms, that was horrid, but after that one, the rest had a very familiar “here we go again” vibe.

Well Corbin, I wasn’t tearing my hair out, but i did give the people around me a very good opportunity to text the anti social behaviour number.
Apologies to all in the top deck of the ponsford last night
