We were ■■■■■ and Brisbane showed themselves to not be a real contender for mine.
We won enough footy despite being very half arsed, but because we were half arsed we gave it back to them, and they then roosted behinds from a long way out.
Lots of the usual suspects were ordinary.
Once the game was completely over we started to go a bit more direct with the footy and kicked five in a row in the last to reduce the margin.
If we came in seriously, we could have won the game, however if Brisbane were also fully on, they win by 100.
The game plan is just keep
the ball moving at all costs -give it to
your team mate every time - handball and short pass - take risks .
So what do our players do- they handball to players who are about to be gang tackled , kick it short to guarded players or misskick miss the target almost 50 per cent of the time. We are so predictable causing so many turnovers.
There is no plan or system when we attack. Our forwards when they do lead, lead to the pockets and have usually players right behind them. Our confidence is shot. Usually miss when kicking for goal. We have very soft or defenders not up to it. The lack of confidence and composure and need to give it to a team mate causes us to panic. We do try very hard most games however, as we did last night. Lack of class does not help.
I will not watch anymore of our games when Jake Kelly is wearing our jumper!
To be honest, I’ve never seen an Essendon team with such poor football skills!
■■■■ me its frustrating!
We can win the ball, win the contest, then just gift it back to the opposition with the most basic, under 10 like ■■■■ up!
Brisbane beat up plenty of teams around clearances. Not just us. Over the year our midfield hasn’t been the major issue. We were getting killed on scores from turnover regardless.
You’ll cop some criticism for this kind of statement, but it’s absolutely true. All a “respectable” loss does is solidify the belief in some that we’re not that far away, that we’re a decision or two from success, etc.
