Wont win a tough game with Menzie, Gresham and Perkins in the team.
These blokes just dont play roles consistently.
Stoked with Zac Reids game.
We need to play tighter on our opponents.
WAAAAY TOO MUCH SPACE!
I will say one thing about today, and we all know that is more than football today. I was sitting up in the top deck in the AFL members and was surrounded by pies supporters. The atmosphere was great and everyone was going off their heads but no fark heads and no one getting in each otherâs faces. Thatâs how it should be. To the Essendon supporter that was sitting behind us in the AFL members in Q16 row V seats 2 or 3 you are a legend. You gave it your all today and gave us a good laugh you are a true bombers supporter. Gave those one eyed pies supporters a run for their money. He might have got kicked out at half time because I didnât see him after that but I would buy you a beer any time
Smacked in clearances all day despite winning the hitouts.
Everyone pushing sheil and setterfield over Tsatas should take a break from this forum for a bit
Theyâre betterâŚ.
We overuse the ball.
Too many pissy little kicks and handballs.
Out of the backline? Diabolical plan.
Menzie had a big impact!!!Yes he had a night out against Melb but he is not an AFL footballer.
Thatâs been our level for 20 years now.
Lol
He didnât hold players accountable after the crows game- he wonât after this
Still thankful to Brad?
Shame it blew out as I thought we were pretty competitive for the bulk of the game.
Lost this in the coaches box. Too tall, got smacked in clearances - if only we had a 20yo clearance machine in the 2s to combat this in a wet game?
There were enough positives to take from this game, but as other posters have mentioned, this is where weâre at.
Unequivocally itâs game plan
Look at stoppage set ups - we get killed on the inside every single time because of how we structure
First quarter was utterly putrid. Second to the ball, fumbly, turnovers⌠Daicos running free with no one even near him? How on earth is this possible so early? Horrific.
Second quarter was good. And once again it was Merrett that helped the fightback. Durham had his one good quarter as he usually does. Forwards actually retained the ball in our half.
From about 10 minutes onwards on the third we were utterly outplayed, outclassed and beaten easily.
Durham had one good quarter and three rubbish ones. Martin did nothing after half time. Setterfield barely got involved in the second half. Duursma had a really bad game. Jones was rubbish once more and so was his sub in Menzie. How many times does Brad Scott persist with these same plodders?
Too much below average crap to win.
Miami Dolphins say Hi. So does Brooklyn Nets. And I support all three. Thank God for Liverpool FC
Yes I am
Changing coach wont achive anything. once that new coach smell wears off and the same problems rear thier ugly head fans will be calling for his head too
In the middle third of the game it was.
We got jumped at the start and jumped at the end; the effort was way, way down during those periods.
Unfortunately while he is in the side we will never win a final- he and others just nowhere near the level
Shiel could not pick the ball up cleanly today - AT ALL!
Gresham, Setters, Shiel, Prior, Perkins, Red Dog, Menzie all absolute garbage.
Canât see how they can improve, so donât think there is any point continuing with them.
And then thereâs the next level which has McGarth, McKay, Goldy, who arenât much better.
Think itâs time for Lual, Hayes, Davey, Tsatas (sigh), Vigo to be given a run at it for a while
Edit: left Jones out of first para
Do not want to see Jones, Setterfield, Prior, Redman again.
Gresham and Perkins last chance as well.
Ridleyâs bad is very bad.
Liking Reid and Roberts lets build backline around them
Dumb selections
Dumb coaching
Lazy players
Players who canât hit the side of a barn door with their woeful foot skills.
Really just a copy and paste every loss for the last 20 years but Iâm sure we will beat Norf and then talk ourselves up again
The margin was a tad more than it should have been, 5 goals would have been a good outcome for us, so it was disappointing we let it blow out as it did.
Collingwood won it, overall too strong and we lacked composure and structure and failed to control the game for any significant length of time.
So much doesnât work for us:
Ball movement and setting up around the ground.
Where we lead to in the forward line.
How we move the ball out of the backline.
General skill levels - in a very tough game where there is constant pressure we make it even harder for ourselves with kicks and handballs that miss their targets or go to their feet.
And not seeing or selecting the better option - too many times player(s) have led only to be ignored adn the player decides to go for the long kick to a difficult contest. No idea if that is the game plan or just players being scared to back themselves or not being switched on.
Collingwood are just a much stronger and better drilled and disciplined side compared to us and were expected to win.
The fact we got back in front later in the game is something we need to understand and build on.
Some of that was led by our younger players and that gives hope for where we are going.
But even when we are playing well itâs a struggle and we are having to play at our best to be competitive or control the game. We donât dominate games yet.
