Review vs Geelong 2023

Brad Scott said he should have made some moves, much quicker than he did. I agree.

If you had of said pre game that Stringer kicks 4 and Weideman kicks 5, we probably assume we win.

Looks like The Sash have launched onto YT this year…

Wait a minute… we don’t have a full time psychologist?

Fkn appalling. Sure, mental health issues are on the rise but it’s not even that. We all know that at AFL level the biggest factor is psyche. The players mental state needs to be managed to maximise mental application.

Personally, I think it’s madness not to have a team of shrinks.

We might have. The club isn’t going to tell us every role that exists at the club.

To be fair, I don’t think anyone genuinely knows if we do or not

Totally true. You and aboods quite rightly pointed this out. Strange reaction on my part!

iIRC Collingwood has one psychologist for both the men and women, she also works for Melbourne Storm.

Jacqui Louder. She used to be on radio. She’s brilliant. I actually noticed her on the Collingwood bench on the weekend.

i’ve been imagining that since 2016. it doesn’t improve though. there are each and every game at least 5 howlers that professional footballer should not be producing ( this week, redman turning from the boundary and trying to switch and kicking the ball to no one).

see is it improvement we are showing ?
hawks kicked 4.5 so that’s 9 shots on goal in the first qtr. i said at the time that was the only concern about that game, you give good sides that kind of start and you won’t beat them.
saints was 5.4
geelong 6.3
they kinda learnt in the melb and collingwood games, but then all the good work that was done in the first qtrs, was undone by the second qtrs.

we are showing improvement cos people want to believe it’s different than under rutten.
obviously some aspects are, atm the end results are mimicking those of under rutten.

i guess time will tell whether it’s actual improvement and changing course from what we are used to, or not.

I’d be surprised if there isn’t some minimum requirement stipulated by the AFL.

It may not be a need to have a full time psychologist on the books (I think even club doctors generally only work at the club on a part-time basis), but I’d imagine some system would need to be in place that allows players to access free mental health care if needed.

1 st quarter against the cats was simialr to last year round 1.
But we stood up and fought it out, and off a short break.

round 1 2022 against the cats under Rutten we were fresh and showed we stood for nothing.
Geelong are good and bullied us a bit this year.
We need to believe in Scott learning from that.
Everyone is crying out for a bit more mungrel in the side, just so happens that we have VOSS running around, but Scott is holding him back before all the fans go Lid off once he gets his opportunity…

Just checked - our score was the second highest score in a loss through the AFL this year - only pipped by the swans this round by 2 points (106)

Geelong also went down to the Pies 103-125 in Round 1

basically I reckon the score we kicked yesterday probably would’ve beaten most teams on the averages
