Watching the “highlights” looking at LAV’S game.
West goal 1, Lav direct opponent, miskick from Bont falls on West’s chest. Goal.
West goal 2, runs after an over the back ball and spill from a tackle for a snap, Prior direct opponent.
Naughton goal 1, Lav direct opponent, however Naughton goals from down field free.
West goal 3, gets loose after a turnover and Johannsson stream through the middle, Lav direct opponent, could have been closer but absolutely no pressure and good kick.
West goal 4, dumps Archie Roberts and snaps, Lav off the ground.
So, yeah. LAV was maybe culpable on one goal.

Richmond, Brisbane, Carlton and Geelong- how many of these are we going to win??? Me thinks we re going to be 0-4 , heck, dockers in melb and GC also in melb, could be 0-6. Dunno where the next “close win by a few points” is going to come from.

When we beat Richmond by 2 points, I’ll have a quiet chuckle when the Clappers strut back onto this forum after disappearing all weak and gloat “where da gloomers at?!?!?”.

Honestly it just logically doesn’t matter.
If we lose, our draft hand improves.
If we win, it means we’re a little further down the track of rebuilding.
We’re playing “kids” this year, so wins against mid to low table clubs is a positive.
We are rebuilding, even if the marketing department won’t allow the word to be said out loud.

Blitzers have used this and “building a winning culture” to justify that winning games is a good thing for years. The results are we keep finishing above the best picks. Remember that even Caddy we had to give up an additional second rounder for.

It’s very noticeable that the teams that beat up on the most over the years have one thing in common and it’s always been the same.
Strong bodied, classy mids that work hard.
Our mids have been the problem for years and we have never really addressed it.
At every contest we were outnumbered and that’s not skill, that’s want and desire. We have too many lazy footballers that seem happy just to be out there

I don’t feel there’s been enough Merrett hate in this thread.
I’m a bit reluctant to ppt him as hard as others because of the amount of times he has hauled us over the line but yes he was terrible tonight. He even started playing for frees and second guessing himself which was unusual.
He’s a champion so will bounce back

Great game to miss by the looks - massive swing from last year’s result which is worrying but the Doggies are cherry ripe and did the exact same to Port two weeks ago which is where we’re at, scrapping with bad teams. If the AFL had any integrity (they don’t) that regard Vandermeer has one or two weeks off
