Round 1 2025 Review

Not going to happen. Crows will chew us up and spit us out.

No Langford = no key forward

DKP did you select embrace mediocrity in the poll?

I’m not going to be resultist.

Results don’t matter this year. Neither does game plan, or team selection, or team balance, or game day tactics.

All that matters, is that we improve standards. And we don’t even need to show any signs of that improvement, we just need to hear that they’ve improved.

Effort was there. Hawks just waaayyy more polished. On to next week.

I’d also like the transcript to record the poor umpiring during the game.

Hawthorn have had a good list manager.

We have not.

That’s the difference.

LAngford was rubbish tonight

Looks like we lost it in the first quarter. Missing game 0 didn’t help . Looked rusty and slippery

Okay we’re off by 4 goals against a Top 6 side (maybe they’re even better than that).

It’s not disastrous.
Now…how do we bridge that gap ?

There isn’t much ready made in the Reserves to bring in.
SEH is 1.

We hope our draftees improve throughout the year, and then hit the Draft again, unless we can snare that guy from the West for a reasonable price.

how is it a silver lining when it keeps happening ?

“youngest side in the comp” Roberts wasn’t the cause of this, bryan wasn’t the cause of this. tsartas lil bit was, but wasn’t the main cause, kako wasn’t the main cause, caddy wasn’t the main cause.

Shiel was, mcgrath was, mckay was, draper was.

we will be a bottom 4 side most likely, it’s not going to be because of the youth.

Commeth the Edwards.
Or McKay forwards.

We ■■■■.

I suppose the thing that sticks out is the effort after quarter time, which, to be frank, was actually pretty good. But you can’t be six goals down before you figure it out, you know.

Unfortunately it looks like our toughest opponent every week will once again be the umpires. Always finding ways to kill our momentum. Always finding ways to find bizarre interpretations of 50/50 decisions that favour our opponent 100 percent of the time, every time. But I don’t want to give them any more blame than everyone already has. We deal with this godforsaken ■■■■ every week year after year.

The bottom line is that we are stuck with a half dozen or so players who are not “it” and have really never been “it”. I’m pretty much out of patience with these blokes.

Been on the fence about renewing my 8 game membership… right now it’s leaning thumbs down.

If we don’t look at silver linings and just expect to be belted every week then what’s the ■■■■■■■ point of even watching to begin with

Caldwell was our best by a mile then, Merrett then probably Martin but he wasted a fair bit of it.

Langford and Ridley 2 key senior players getting injured mid match isn’t helpful for next few weeks.

If Brad Scott had one eighth on one ball, he would call out the umpiring. But he doesn’t and he won’t.
