Round 18: Brisbane vs Essendon, Gabba, Sun 12/07/26, 4:40 PM

Given where the season is at, unless you are playing for a contract, I reckon it’d be pretty hard to give 100% at this point.

There is genuinely nothing to play for now. The team is so poor the only difference effort makes is to the margin and not the result.

Giving 100% is an individual choice. Plenty would give it.

Except half the balls are stamped “Jones”.

I don’t think we’re very good either. Actually, for the first time since we’ve sacked Sheedy, I over estimated where I thought we’d be.
But I also don’t think they are giving 100%. Part of that is confidence, part of it is trust in teammates, part of it is just typical demoralisation of being out of games by half time.

I do think if things turn a bit and they gain some confidence, it will look like they are giving more though. That comes with the territory. When things are going your way, you can gamble on your teammates winning a ball and leak forward of the ball a bit more.

I dont understand dropping mckay. He’s looked way more refreshed up forward and he’s not going to dominate every week. Even still, play him back. Jones in, well…everyone’s already said it. If jones plays defence as it looks likely, and we’re dropping mckay you may as well just pay him out. Why would you play jones ahead of mckay in any position

2MP should be #1 ruck. Bryan is that fkn useless he should be made to dominate the VFL before even being considered. Blakiston can chopout

I’m obviously only guessing but it might just be to build McKay confidence. Last chance for Jones

That must be his 50th last chance over the last 5 years.

, I was thinking more as a CHB new role kind of thing.

At the game watching live last week, McKay was so, so slow.

that’s why he is gone - plus the fact that even Blakiston is now better than he is in defence, especially when playing on resting rucks, like Brisbane’s; and then going into thew ruck with them.

This allows Wright to play permanent FF and he is a better key forward than McKay will ever be.

There are five changes and the selected team is as slow as two wet weeks. Another slaughter coming up.

Watching McKay live last week. He just wasn’t giving any effort. Soon as the ball hit the ground he would give up.

Whoever the new coach is needs to sit him down and have a firm chat with him about whether he actually really wants to play anymore- and if he does the push him hard to be the best he can. And if he doesn’t, get him off the list. He is just so timid

Multiple times he flat out refused to chase or even try and pressure

Yeh I don’t get the jones selection at all. He is rubbish in every position he has been played in for years. We are just wasting valuable games playing him

I have been so disappointed in Bryan since he has come back( and I’m a big fan). He like McKay is just so timid

… because of finally listening to [insert Blitzer’s own name] version of what selection integrity means.

I think McKay will be offered a payout to retire early. He won’t be enjoying this either.

If I didn’t know any better, Id say we were deliberately trying to screw Cox’ career.

This is why we will never find out if we truly have a unicorn on our hands. Cox could have been anything.

Now he’s Kepler Bradley MKII.

Mckay, Bryan, Jones are all rubbish. The new coach will push them out

Agree… Perkins and Cox were two high draft picks which have hurt us

Or have we hurt them?

What do people think par is tomorrow night?

6-7 goals.

It’s a tough one because Wright is a better ruckman than Bryan. Will be good when May returns.
