Round 2 - Hawthorn - Discussion, Changes

I think why people are saying for Hardingham to make way for another player this week is because it is a huge step up in competition.

Those turnovers that he had against North, will be shots on goal against Hawthorn, everyday of the week.

Turnovers cost you goals more often than not these days and Hawthorn are masters at it.

I would say he keeps his spot but if Winderlich is fit and ready to go… You would have to think about it.

On a positive note. How farking good in Howlett? The guy doesn't look like a footballer but is tough in and under, a clearance specialist and I just love the way goes about it without any fuss. Definitely sneaks under the radar of the opposition when looking at who to cover.

Very underrated, excellent set of hands too.
One thing I was really impressed with against North was just all of our players ability to be one touch and not fumble.
Myers was a stand out, had the ball drilled at his feel a couple of times and picked it up like it was just lying there on the ground. Signs of a good side me thinks.

Is Melksham suspended this week?

Or is he back?

Suspended

I think we will roll them this week,  I think we have what it takes - no buddy to kick 8 against us. Any word on Gibbo yet? didnt he get reported for a rather nasty shot on a lions player? Chappy looked great - BJ and Watson doing their stuff, Genuine chance here guys 29 point win is my tip

Jobe used to be a ■■■■ kick

The Hawks have multiple avenues to goal through Roughhead, Guston, Brust,....etc. Keep hardy and Gleeson in for versatility. Only concern with Widners in fitness.

Gleeson or Hardingham to make way for Winders.
Where is Kommer?

Gleeson was great has to stay. Might get ragged dolled against the Hawks though.

When Winderlich is ready - Out Hardingham

When Bellchambers is ready - Out Ambrose

When Dempsey is ready - Out Gleeson

When Melksham finishes suspension - Out Zerret

When Kommer is ready - Out Jerret (maybe)

It's obviously not quite that simple.  But they definately want to set up in a particular way, and have brought players in to replace what was lost through injury and suspension.  I don't think its going to be a matter of who is the worst player in the 22, but rather whose spot have you been filling, and is he ready to come back (or have you overtaken him in the pecking order).

Having said that, I really liked Gleeson's game, and would be playing him every week he was fit.

Kommer would want to get back soon... many more performances like that and the guy might find it a little harder to break into the side than it was last year.

and when hirdy is ready?

No change this week. Keep Winders on ice for another week.

I get confused

If he’s fit, there is no point him sitting on the sidelines. If they want to ease him in, pick him as the sub. He is well suited to that role anyway.

Out: Zerrett
In: Winderlich
Dempsey and Melkshake back the following week to romp the Blues.

Zerret

Someone needs to stop Burgoyne, Ambrose in a run with ?

What are Gibson’s chances of gettig a week? I didn’t see the incident. If Gibson misses, we win.

Why did everyone hate Hardingham's game so much?  Yes he made some clangers by foot but he kicked 2 goals at crucial stages of the game and curbed Thomas when sent back late.

I'd play Dempsey or Winders as the sub for Z.Merrret as the out if either are fit.

because his good is pretty good, but his bad is very bad. He ends up negating any good he does by the bad he does.

That being said at the end of the day he prolly ended up in front on friday night, but in a game where turnovers are so crucial you can't rely on someone who is so hit and miss.

you could argue his mistakes in the first were helpful to the momentum shift late in the first qtr. yes redeemed himself with a couple of goals and his shutting down of thomas later in the game.

I just don't think long term you can carry a guy who's disposal leads to so many turnover goals as hardy does.

If the 'clanger' stat means anything, Hardingham was no worse than several others including Zaharakis and Ryder. He is not being carried. We have depth. The experts in our football department include him because he is in our best 22.

Hardy had 3 clangers from 17 disposals, along with Ryder & Daniher, except they only had 11 disposals each.

I don‘t think Hardy should be dropped, however you can‘t make that comparison as Ryder clangers were quick kicks from contested situations. Anyway the reason a lot of supporters are quick to point Hardy out is the fact that he makes silly errors when the pressure is off....... that‘s why it stands out in peoples mind.

I feel that if Winders is fit to play, that either Zerret or Gleeson will be dropped. I feel for both as they both showed plenty, however for balance, i would rather lose one of them than Hardy.

He also kicked two first half goals, both from contested grabs. When he went back in the second half, he was close to our best, and shut down their most dangerous forward.
