From what I saw, he had eyes on the ball the whole way, just knew someone was coming and did what every player would do in that situation.

I see no issue with it, protected himself while jumping and caused a bit of collateral damage. Free kick for high contact and move on

Knee was right up and he extended the leg at the perfect time. Deliberately did it for sure, and it was not necessary for protection. Its not in the spirit of the game, just a little snipping prick.
