Okay, there were positives. The main one is that the second half shows that when the team applies some pressure, the performances of individual players improves. Gresham cops heaps on here, but he’s one of our few players who actually can kick a goal. Parish can dispose of the ball pretty well when he’s got a target to kick to.
But there’s still not much to like. Even in the second half our pressure, according to the commentators, was only about 185, which is far better than it’s been so far this season but still well below what the best teams do. Yes, we outscored them from quarter time onwards, but we never got within 5 goals of them; basically we kicked a lot of junk time goals, because after half time it was all junk time.
Was out for Easter dinner so knew nothing of the match. Check the score and check the first few posts - I figure we did a lot lot better than expected. Not sure what that means, let’s see what next week brings.
If you told me before the game they’d not get to 100 and we’d win two quarters, I’d have taken it. I legit thought it was going to be a record victory for them, and at quarter time and even half time, it looked that way. After half time it was our best football of the year, they tackled hard, pressured, and worked their ■■■■■ off. Credit to the boys, where the fck has that been? All we want is some hope. Least we had something to hold our hats to. Realistically they did lose their best ruck, and didn’t have Richards or Liberatore out there…
Roberts had 29 kicks at 100% efficency. Farrow 21 disposals and looks promising. Edwards and May could be decent if they ever got good delivery. Johnson, Reid and Merrett had good second halfs. Durham and Caldwell were disgraceful in the first half, so at least showed something in the second half. Fair play to Gresham who kicked 3 good goals.
Parish, Guelfi and Langford are utterly cooked. Perkins looks lost out there. McKay provides little.
With those numbers he’s absolutely begging to be dropped, Brad would have every reason to do it and literally everyone, including Archie’s mum and dad, would agree that it’s the right thing to do.
We did basically play 3 quarters of a dead rubber, so I’m not going to sing too many praises. But to be fair the dogs ■■■■■■■ love to belt the ■■■■ out of a team once they get into a situation like that, so I wouldn’t put it all down to the dogs taking their foot off the gas.
