Round 6 Match Day Thread (2025) — vs West Coast (Weagles)

How good is this?

Following up a post-bye win with an interstate match against the winless bottom side.

Victory would give us three wins in a row.

Last time we won three on the trot was last year, rounds 8 - 11, when we won 4 straight.

We should win… right?

I mean what could go wrong?

No disrespect to Wet Toast. We should be winning this by 12 goals, if we are any good.

I remember people saying that a few times before, and they either rolled us or we just scrapped over the line.
people have said that about north, similar deal.
hell i remember around 2017/18 they said the same about brissy when they were near the bottom.

I think it more comes down to what WC want more, do they want a win to alleviate some of the noise, or do they want a respectable loss.

Leaving out oscar suggests they want a respectable loss.

I am saying it because of the efforts of previous years. We need to beat up few of these hopeless teams.

we know why you’re saying it. we simply aren’t a good team, so a belting won’t be happening.

will be tight game early, eagles will get a sniff, but we will kick away in the second half.

multiple goal kickers - Wright, Draper, Caddy, Kako, Menzie

Are we genuinely good enough to beat up on teams?

I’d argue only if we came with an ANZAC Day like spirit we are capable of it. I don’t think we’re that good so any win by 4-5 goals tonight would be I think our level.

If we’re a bit flat though, then that’s when we’re in trouble… As we’ve shown in recent years b/c we aren’t good enough to be slightly off and beat many teams.

Dropping your captain for a home game is peak shambles.

They were terrible last week. They’ve been under allot of scrutiny in Perth as a result. They get McGivern and Kelley back, both good and experienced players.

I’d expect them to have a go tonight and be much better. They will think they’re a sneaky chance tonight against a team that could play like gliders…. It might be tougher than you think.

PEETO WHERES THE TEAM

The group is still learning a lot about their place in the game. Our team isn’t the finished product and there’s a lot of upside to our players.

What comes to mind when you see this list of players:

Jones
Perkins
Menzie
Sheil
Hobbs

Whipping boys?

Perhaps.

But they all scored important goals in our win last week, and will feel like they belong.

There’s every chance we tear this game apart and get our % back to square, and if not today then it could be soon.

Bombers by 63 points. (Haven’t checked the weather, assuming it will be dry)

We’ll win by 17 points.

Mild, breezy day over here. Oscar Allen being rested has the locals restless.

Certainly an uncomfortable feeling going into this game as clear favorites.

Expecting an emotional response from the eagles after last week, but we should get this done.

Heppell, his supporters and his haters would all like to say a hearty “hello”.

You and David Schwartz think the Eagles will beat us. I think it will be tougher than what others are saying on here.
