Nobody rested, injured players only, maybe upgrade a good performing young for a lesser performing younger player. And get belly in, he is to good to be languishing in the twos against Brisbane, he needs game time so get him in.
unless you can leave him parked in the forward goalsquare, i don't think he's ready.
Did he play that bad in the twos?
I am not exaggerating unfairly when i say that I couldn't be certain he had a possession. I think Belly needs more match time in the seconds. nothing more or less to it than that.
Do they play him though, simply so either of Daniher or Carlisle don't have to ruck at all ?
If they think they can win carrying Belly for that fact alone, I think they might risk playing him. That being said it's still a big risk going into a game with that mentality, so who knows. I'm thinking they will play him.
I don’t think Belly will play unless they drop Carlisle. A forward line of TBC, Joe and Jake isn’t exactly ideal in conditions that are likely to be greasy. I’d prefer they bring in the more mobile Ambrose, whose ability to continually present an option has been missed.
It's media central for Bellchambers this week. I'd be surprised if he didn't play.
When the media get around to be selectors you will have a point. Until then l prefer to leave to Bomber and co, to sort out the team selection.
You misunderstand my point.
When the club is putting Bellchambers up for interviews early in the week, I believe the selectors have already made up their mind.
Note he wasn't doing interviews last week.
I could be wrong, but we spend a lot of time trying to read the tealeaves here, and to me they seem to be pointing to a return.

I think what Frosty is saying is that the club wouldn't usually let Bellcho (or anyone) be on radio etc if he was just going to languish in the VFL for another week or two.

It could be that he doesn't need to prepare for the game so he has time on his hands to do interviews.
We will have to wait and see, but I think they will continue to be cautious.
On the other hand a lesser oponent like Brissy might be a good hit out for him to get back into the swing of things before the real stuff against Sydney after the bye.
Ruck is the most overrated position on the field. Hawthorn are dominating the comp in scores from clearances, and neither McEvoy or Hale are strong tap ruckmen. Before McEvoy, Bailey was only workmanlike. The correlation between hitouts and even hitouts to advantage to clearances is very weak. Unless you are getting towelled up by a mismatch (eg. Sandilands vs Carlisle/Daniher), then it makes very little difference who wins the ruck. You just need someone to give a contest.
TBC has zero form, but the selection strategy seems to be that if a player is a "Top 22 player" then get him in and give him game time. I'm not 100% sure of this approach but I'll give Bomber the benefit of the doubt given his 202 games for Essendon, two Crichton Medals, Essendon captaincy from 1992 to 1995, three premierships playing for Essendon, one premiership captaincy, two premierships coaching Geelong, twice being selected All-Australian coach and sundry other football-related awards and experience versus my not-quite-as-impressive record as a half-forward flanker in the Diamond Valley Football League.
