I hate the old 'accepts mediocrity' line that gets thrown around on here.

Nobody at the club ACCEPTS mediocrity. You think Hird, or Harvey, or Craig, or ANYONE at EFC goes home after a game like that and says ‘well, ok, we’re mediocre, but at least we didn’t lose by 10 goals, so it’s all ok after all’? Of course they don’t. That line is just a way of slagging off people - claiming they’re somehow personally flawed or lazy or disloyal or unmotivated - simply because what measures they’ve tried to fix things so far (and does anyone really believe that the club hasn’t been trying?) haven’t yet worked, whether it’s due to injuries or other matters beyond our control, or whether it’s due to what we’ve tried being the wrong thing to try.

Sometimes, things go wrong despite your best laid plans. Sometimes, you try something and it doesn’t work - footy is not a business with a single, simple, easily followable, infallible formula for success. ■■■■ happens sometimes, to quote our esteemed prime minister. Doesn’t mean you ‘accept mediocrity’ whatever that means, it just means that ■■■■ happened.,

But but but, they tell the players to dominate inside 50s, take a lot of marks inside 50, and then miss the set shots.

IF THAT’S NOT ASKING FOR MEDIOCRITY, THEN I ASK YOU - WHAT IS ???

The loss on Fletch 400th is very disappointing, no doubt. However, I am also in the glass half-full camp. Once this WADA sh*it is finally over, things will no doubt improve. I am amazed how the Club (staff, players etc.) survived the whole saga without disintegrating. The players all stuck to their guns together, even those who no longer play with us and for such a long time. The easiest way surely would be to rat out and plead guilty for a token suspension as expected by that dimwit McIdiot, but nobody did.

Things haven’t been going our way for a while but the fundation of the Club is strong to build upon. I still think the EFC is the best club for me to support.

I’m as disappointed with the loss as anyone, and particularly because it was such a huge occasion. I’m pretty sure there is a selection committee that choose who to play and who not to play week in, week out. Does the final decision rest with Hirdy alone? I don’t think so, although I don’t know the inner workings of the EFC football dept.

The way some of you carry on is beyond me. Humble Minion summed it up best.

It really is astounding that people don’t get this, actually.

The only effect bad-mouthing the club and talking it down has, is turning away potential members who read it. It has no positive effect.

Perhaps the club admin are as satisfied with mediocrity as the coaching staff? Seems woven into the fabric at the HPC.

You think Sheeds, Harvs and Lloyd are mediocre and accept mediocre?

They seem to be.

Thank you Norf for salvaging the remainder of my weekend…kinda

Once the wada stuff runs its course, change will come.

It doesn’t really make much sense to have a new admin regime take over mid saga and be tarnished with the same brush.

So we finished above Collingwood once in the last 9 seasons and they've already rebuilt while we'll slide for at least another year before we can even start our rebuild.

Furthermore we had a golden opportunity to remove pretty much every admin person from every position top to bottom to bring about change. Instead we brought back as many ‘good old days’ guys as possible to sell memberships.

What does Sheedy doing PR, Harvey being an assistant coach and Lloydy being a part time specialist coach have to do with removing admin people?

Did I miss the bit where the pies lost 2 years of draft picks Seriously how can you even make a comparison
The years they were playing grand finals didn't give them any picks anyway. Got value for Thomas, Wellingham, Beams and Shaw.

Although it did help them that the years when they were on top had the expansion clubs taking all the picks and thereby prevented other clubs like us from getting the best youth.

Jeez, Jamie Elliott is ■■■■■■ good for a midget who plays like a CHF.

Learnt everything he knows from watching Alwyn Davey tapes.
