Russia invades Ukraine - 2 - from 4 May 2022

I’m assuming those are millimeter measurements, which would probably make this a 30mm autocannon barrel. They’re already prone to overheating in long bursts. I wonder if either measurement actually represents a minimum barrel thickness. I also wonder how far offset the sighting equipment needed to be, lol. It might be that the rifling was cut off centre, or the blank was later turned down with the billet incorrectly centred in the mill/ lathe.

One theory bouncing around was the wall thickness spec is 11mm, so this allows a QA check to measure 11mm, while saving on material costs.

That or they just ■■■■■■ up centering the bore.

The problem with that is that 11mm is only achieved on one small section of the circumference, lol.

I’ve no idea how that rifling would’ve been cut. Button rifling, hammer forged etc. But if that’s the QA, it’d be interesting to see how ■■■■ the chambering reamer and barrel seating is!

“We keep missing for some reason”.

Then the barrel splits.

It’s not QA. It’s spec adherence. A very very different thing.

Russia = corruption

as long as the number of pontoons you have.
I’m not sure how many the russian engineer units now hold but that’s a divissional resource and can be allocated as required.

frm wikipedia

Blockquote In 1995 the 502nd and 38th Engineer Companies of the U.S. Army’s 130th Engineer Brigade, and the 586th Engineer Company from Ft. Benning GA, operating as part of IFOR assembled a standard ribbon bridge under adverse weather conditions across the Sava River near Županja (between Croatia and Bosnia), with a total length of 2,034 feet (620 m). It was dismantled in 1996.[ citation needed ]

I well remember my first tour around Vietnam in 1993, 500 ml of Russian vodka was cheaper than a can of coke, roughly $1 a bottle. Beer Hoi (local beer) was even cheaper, 20 cents a litre, and was quite potent.

Using pontoon sections as barges would slow down the Russians even more. Hope they do it.

EDIT: Originally from a Russian media op-ed from 4.4.2022.
Yesterday, RIA Novosti published a lengthy piece titled “What Russia should do with Ukraine”, which explains in detail what Russia understands by denazification. It outlines a 25 year program of death, genocide and murder. Ironically, ideologically and philosophically it has to be the most Nazi-like doctrine put into print since the 1930’s.

Jeez that denazify stuff makes my head hurt. How dare Ukraine choose independence and freedom, they must be destroyed in the cruelest manner.
Was that just some editor’s opinion piece, or is that the official manifesto going forward?

Sorry, my bad - I got carried away reading it and didn’t do my due diligence. It is an old op-ed piece from April 4th - 4 months ago - that another repost took me in on. I haven’t seen it before, maybe it has been posted here before. People are discussing it on Reddit. It is an op-ed but considered official propaganda.
My apologies for the misleading original post.
