I think that’s a very very effective “Don’t ■■■■ with us” message.

@foxyjim the other factor delaying the war ending is Ukraine simply don’t want to surrender to Russia. It is a democracy and currently the population is massively aligned in taking on this fight. Zelensky would be hung if he handed over territory in this atmosphere. If western aid stopped, the Ukrainians would keep fighting, just with more losses.

My take is that if Ukraine is to surrender land, it should be their choice and on a timeline of their choosing. They are the ones that are suffering. If their decision is that the short term suffering is preferable to long term Russian domination, then I don’t feel it is our right to overrule them.

I’ve got a more optimistic view on Ukraine’s chances than you do. Even if this grinds to a halt and negotiations are the only path forward, it’s Ukraine’s right to set their own path.

Thanks for providing some clarity and logic to the discussion Benny. I hadn’t thought of ongoing recruitment and training. Every year, there could be almost 100 k 18 year olds ready for training. All with a growing hatred of Russia.

Ukraine is still operating in a heavily volunteer service model, they aren’t pulling in masses of unmotivated conscripts. That has a huge impact on quality and morale of the troops being trained.

“It’s hot, it’s hard, but the artillery doesn’t back down.” How do artillerymen work in the Bakhmut direction - hromadske

“The equipment is not new, it is Soviet, and any equipment needs maintenance. In the current weather conditions, the mechanisms fail,” says a soldier of the 28th Varyag brigade. The ACS, on which he works, was under repair for three days, and now goes to the front line to continue performing combat missions. How the artillery of the 28th Brigade works is in the video hromadske.

I believe the Seinfeld meme is most appropriate here.
