Are UAE servicing the Russian fleet of western aircraft?
While I fully support free speach, in some cases it might have an undesired effect.
During a war you would expect your senior commanders to raise issues up the chain and hopefully it would get resolved quickly as it is not in the interest to send untrained individuals to the front who donāt know how to shoot. I would be surprised if there were not clear guidelines on what can be shared with the media.
The lack of ammunition is somewhat known so that wasnāt news so I suspect they didnāt demote him for that reason.
The statement about untrained individuals being sent to the front that donāt know how to shoot was likely considered inappropriate information to share in a public forum as it boosts the low morale on the Russian side while it may also be a consideration for supporters of Ukraine.
Itās a messy situation. The guy was reportedly one of the best front line commanders, so losing that talent over an issue like this is a bad outcome.
Nope. No one is allowed to service them.
The Russians are stripping aircraft and cobbling together what they can whilst also stepping up production of knockoff parts. They are skipping their major safety checks and have no way to update the software on aircraft which is critical. Itās only a matter of time before they start falling out of the sky.
India has just upped their bilateral ASA to 60 odd flights per week so Iād expect a few more Russians off to holidays via India in the coming weeks
Agreed, but that might reflect Kozelās desperation
This reminds me of the US admiral who was removed from command after publicly calling for assistance when an aircraft carrier crew was being smashed with covid.
Machine guns?
That was an enlightening article from many different perspectives, not least because it gives us a vastly different angle on things and on Prickozhinās methods than has been painted in western media. Vastly different also l expect from the experiences of US soldiers who were also recruited for the army instead of serving stints in gaol.
Discipline is supposed to be applied universally. Unfortunate, but they are all replaceable. Going off like that is not on, and not recognizing it and resigning is not very professional (but characteristic of some of the egos that develop in those positions - typical of promotion seekers that value their status more than their soldiers, but I may be wrong in that assessment)
In that case he clearly was working to protect his crew and I thinknthat situation was handled very poorly
True, but wapo is not the place for Ukrainian military officers to engage in honest debate. The article fed campaign in US for ācompromiseā.
As a comment in the thread said:
Thanks. That is the sort of EW equipment I expected to be widely available on both sides much earlier. In fact it seems that just switching from civilian WiFi to minimal military systems was sufficient to overcome what was actually widely deployed. But that wonāt necessarily remain the case.
If the shipments can be traced to individuals or companies, why not secondary sanctions?
Should have been sentenced to a long period of imprisonment for deliberately choosing to infect civilians in isolated Guam:
Bullets that fly up also plummet down with roughly the same impact on what they hit.
L8R gone
Wasnāt there something about the low flying heights of the drones that made it difficult to intercept them?
Which would still be less of an impact than a bomb or grenade dropped from a drone. Lesser of 2 dangers.
The official media sites refer to Ukraine ammunition production going offshore, with a return to domestic production after the War.
It would appear that previously Ukraine was a centre of illegal ammunition manufacture and smuggling.
Before the War, the EU had registered concerns that Ukraine would become a depot for European criminals, increasingly after the conflicts in the separist regions.
Ukraine had been working with the EU to shut down illegal manufacture, which could have involved so called legal manufacturers ( possibly owned by oligarchs) caught up in illegal production and trade.
