Russia invades Ukraine - 5 - from 2 October 2023

So many craters once more. That clip reminded me a little of my first trip to Vietnam in 1993. They were still just getting back on their feet and a lot of their metalwork was made of aluminium alloys. Turns out most of it came from shot down helicopters that had been recycled. At the same time Vietnam became the largest exporter of various metals in the world. The same will happen in UA, with each of these dead RU tanks providing lots of metal.

Mmmm

lol.
Against my better judgement I clicked play, but turned it off after the loon straight up lied in his very first sentence.

You’re into some weird stuff, man.

It’s probably also an effort to fool AI identification as a tank when being targeted by a UAV.

Not great for your situational awareness, mobility, ability to traverse your main armament (or your secondary for that matter), or even your ability to bail out when you inevitably get hit.

I want to believe but their claims aren’t really backed up in that video with a vessel burning down.

Being in the defense AI space, developing autonomous kill systems is highly problematic in my view.

WW2 gave us nukes. Any chance this war gives us AI drones?

It’s already given us that.
All our recon stuff is based on AI.
I guess you’re meaning totally autonomous kill systems?
I’d have major reservations about system that doesn’t have a human in the loop.

Did you read that recent article about the Israeli AI targeting systems? Called lavender, it determines that there is a probability that someone is a Hamas operative somehow, and the human in the system was instructed to hit the kill button if there were no more than 15-20 civilians as potential collateral damage, 100 for probable senior operatives . If humans are going to be that callous you as well not bother.

Pretty awful.

It’s on the UN agenda ( admittedly at an early stage) on military uses against civilians.
