There’s some horrible footage of Russians executing another Ukrainian POW.

Don’t see that as an issue. Georgia, without Russian “influence”, appears EU leaning, if not NATO after this.
Russia can just GAGF. Status quo is just a recipe for future Russian aggression.

Don’t you hate unnecessary apostrophe’s

Good post, and it’s a valid question.

The “mask off” version they’re not telling you is horrifying.

Apostrophes’ correct usage aids understandings of sentences’ syntax and meanings.
Otherwi’se their in’sensible in’sertion is not only unnece’s’sary but 'so di’stracting, and up’set’s ‘sen’sibilitie’s, e’specially of pedant’s’ 'sini’ster 'sister’s.

(Not me. For Illustative purposes)

Good observations about political visions for the future. I think the points you have raised speak to the core theoretical and philosophical tenets of the world views of both sides. The Left are heavily influenced by the Marxist tenets of the historical stages of the socio-politico-economic development - of human society being determinist and following a temporally linear progression. It lends itself to a very futurist, technologist, Utopian view where the future of society is a place to be built to from here. The prime example is the U.S.S.R., which had very futuristic goals. Even though heavily militaristic, invested heavily in scientific R&D, nuclear energy, spaceflight and civil engineering.

The right are socially conservative, believing in a tradition-based view where history is a loop, all things have been done before and knowledge and skills are constantly lost then gained then lost again through patriarchal and societal structures. Families, nations and states are in a constant cycle of rise, peak, fall and rise. But entropy leads to a gradual decrease over time (i.e. The next Golden era is less illustrious than the last, your grandfather did it better and his grandfather was even tougher than him) This leads to an attempt to assure a good future for a society by returning it to the (moral and legal) conditions of a golden era it experienced in the distant (or ancient) past. The prime example is Confucianism, the world’s most influential and conservative Ideology. The Confucian golden era of Chinese history is the Western Zhou (c. 1046–771 BCE) when (Confucius asserts) the rulers and state were righteous and virtuous, thus society was virtuous and harmonious. All subsequent iterations of society are degenerate unless people return to the moral principles that brought about the golden age.

More simply, the “Left” want society to be more equitable, whereas the Right want more for themselves and whoever will help them get more.

Tru dat.

The right want more reward for effort, the left want more support for those who can’t make the effort.

NATO won’t shoot down Russian missiles and drones over Ukraine as it’s “involving us in war in different way” – Pentagon

FRIDAY, 4 OCTOBER 2024, 06:12

image

NATO will not intercept missiles and drones over Ukraine as it does over Israel, as these are “two very different landscapes and battlefields”, and it would be “involving us in a war in a different way”.

Source: Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh at a briefing; Pentagon website

Quote: “We are talking about two very different landscapes and battlefields. The president, at the very beginning of when Russia invaded Ukraine, has directed this department to provide Ukraine what it needs on the battlefield.”

Details: The Pentagon spokeswoman emphasised that Ukraine has been very successful in using air defence and other capabilities to continue to regain its territory.

She also reported on a conversation between Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin and Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umierov, which focused on obtaining the latest battlefield updates to better assess what additional capabilities Ukraine may require.

Singh stressed that US President Joe Biden has pledged that the United States will not intervene in the Ukraine war but will support Kyiv in its efforts to regain its sovereign territory.

Asked whether hitting targets from Polish or Romanian territory would also be considered “putting boots on the ground”, Singh said “that would be involving us in a war in a different way”.

She also noted that Ukraine “has been able to successfully defend against Russian strikes to their cities, to their populations, to their infrastructure”.

The spokeswoman added that the US will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary support to achieve this goal.

Background: On 3 October, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed bolstering Ukraine’s air defence and its potential NATO membership and called for a joint defence of the Ukrainian skies, as in Israel.

Ukraine asks Hague tribunal to order Russia to dismantle Kerch Bridge

FRIDAY, 4 OCTOBER 2024, 08:11

Ukraine has urged the Hague Arbitral Tribunal, which is considering the case of Russia’s violation of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, to order Russia to dismantle the illegally constructed Kerch Bridge.

Source: European Pravda with reference to Ukrinform, citing a speech by Ukraine’s Co-Agent [deputy legal representative] Oksana Zolotariova during the hearings

Quote from Zolotariova: “It is Russia that unlawfully built this bridge, and now it needs to remove it to enable passage through the Kerch Strait consistent with international law. Russia should do so in conformity with its other UNCLOS [United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea] obligations to protect the marine environment and underwater cultural heritage.”

Details: Zolotariova said dismantling the bridge is the only way to restore passage for vessels of all nations that have used the strait in the past and for future maritime traffic.

“We ask this Tribunal to tell Russia that ‘enough is enough’. We ask that you give meaning to the Law of the Sea Convention. We ask that you uphold the legal rules of the world oceans that were drafted to protect the common interests of all humankind,” she emphasised.

She also stated that Russia must be ordered to provide assurances that it will not repeat these violations in the future.

"Russia must be ordered to wipe out the consequences of its illegal acts by releasing and de-registering the Ukrainian drilling rigs that it has unlawfully seized and re-flagged.

Russia must be ordered to conduct proper studies on the impact of Russia’s construction projects in the Kerch Strait on the marine environment and Russia must be ordered to take steps to remediate the environmental damage caused by these projects and to actively manage continuing risks of environmental harm," Zolotariova concluded.

Background:

  • Ukraine initiated arbitration proceedings against the Russian Federation in September 2016 to protect its rights as a coastal state in the waters adjacent to Crimea in the Black Sea, the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait.
  • In February 2020, the arbitration tribunal in The Hague confirmed its jurisdiction to hear Ukraine’s claim, but only in relation to the Azov Sea and the Kerch Strait, as well as the theft of Ukraine’s natural resources.
  • On 23 September 2024, the hearings on the merits of the case began in The Hague.
As part of the case, Ukraine emphasises, among other things, the illegality of the Kerch Bridge and is asking the tribunal to apply the Convention on the Law of the Sea as it is written to hold Russia accountable

You must be referring to the ‘trickle down’ concept where the employees work harder, smarter and longer with the expectation that companies employing them will reward them with pay rises, budgeted from the company’s increased profits.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
You are ■■■■■■■ dreaming.
The last 25 years of one-sided industrial relations have debunked that liberal fallacy bullshit…

Anyways, wrong thread.
Let’s move along.

The move comes as Kyiv is scrambling to bolster its troop ranks as it tries to stave off Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine’s east in February 2022.

Ukraine said Thursday, Oct. 3, that it had opened its first recruitment office in Poland aiming to enlist citizens for its fight against Russia’s invasion.

The move comes as Kyiv is scrambling to bolster its troop ranks as it tries to stave off Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine’s east in February 2022.

The office in Lublin, around 100 kilometres (60 miles) from the Ukrainian border, has “all the necessary equipment” to determine if volunteers are apt for service, Ivan Gavryliuk, a Ukrainian deputy defence minister, said in a statement.

“After enlistment, training of volunteers will take place” in Poland, he said.

Kyiv announced its plans to recruit a “Ukrainian Legion” in July, hoping to convince thousands of men who have fled the country to avoid the war, in particular to Poland and Germany.

The government estimated that around 300,000 people of combat age were living in Poland.

According to the Ukraine defence ministry statement, 138 requests for interviews had been received via internet during the office’s first days of operation, with a further 58 registered from consulate bureaus.
