Also, while Ukraine successfully wounded Russian naval military capacity in the Black Sea , the attack on the merchant grain ship at the Odessa port sent a message that nowhere is safe.
Also that all bets are off in the unwritten code of behaviour that merchant cargoes - in particular food to supply African needs - are off limits in the War.

Trump is giving Putin time to keep going, and an excuse for the USA not to do anything to stop it.
Vladimir Putin says Russia is “in favour” of a ceasefire in Ukraine, on what terms. In June, Putin said Russia would immediately stop hostilities if Ukraine [surrendered four southeastern regions] that the Russian troops partly occupied, and renounce Ukraines plans to join NATO. Putin also wants Russia’s land grab to be recognized as legitimate. Also demilitarizing Ukraine, which would leave the country with a small army incapable of deterring future attacks. The Kremlin has also ruled out the presence of foreign peacekeepers in Ukraine . Lifting restrictions on transnational payments and the sale of gas and oil, especially recent curbs on its oil tanker fleet.

Maybe a bit tongue in cheek, the US State Department has congratulated the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on their Treaty settling the State borders.
State noted that the Treaty reflected the commitment of their governments to diplomatic resolution of a regional issue.
The Treaty comes after decades of wrangling and a border conflict in 2022.
Some have labelled it as a landmark deal of the century.
Can’t see this happening for Russia and Ukraine any time soon
