Lack of execution is fair game if your well just
against a better opposition.
A lack of effort is inexcusable.
Essendon lacked effort tonight. Not everyone but enough.

100% right like you said Brad can’t kick the goal for them or miss basic skill execution these last few weeks is all on the players
In 6 months time, everyone will be sucked back in with excitement of a new season.
Mark my words.
It’s not so much the mindset but it’s the challenge at hand.
Let’s face it, our club has more baggage attached to it than any other club in the comp.
The 7000 days since a winning final is a heavy burden to handle.
The supporters who ride it weekly know it and I’m sure it rubs off on the players. Even though they say they don’t hear the outside noise, they certainly do feel it. Whether it’s from family or firiends, they get it.
This group aren’t ready for the challenge and they may never be ready. The next group may not be any better.
I’m not giving them an out because that team that went out today is good enough to win that game. But it didn’t. We made Sharman and Caminiti look like the second coming of Carey and McKernan.
We need to get back to basics. No more shifting players around to appease certain selections. Either Caddy plays or Jones does. Either Parish plays or Shiel plays. Either Perkins plays or Setterfield does. The team is unbalanced and has been for more than two months. And it just gets further away from being unbalanced with every week.
And for the love of god, the forward line is absolutely diabolical. That forward six should be performing far better. But it’s not. Kicking into the forward line is terrible, but the effort defending on the way out is just as bad.
A midfield of midgets does not work. They just get out worked in the contest.
And whenever we get the ball on the back flank, no body runs into space to offer an option. It’s farking hard not to just kick long down the line. If you actually try and be daring, you get burned the other way.
We are in such a rock-paper-scissors situation that no matter what we do, it goes against us so very few players are willing to take a risk.
Redman kick in goes straight to a Saints player.
Langford kick at goal 30m out right in front.
I accept errors occur, but these just shouldn’t be occurring. Certainly not twice in two weeks.
I’m not even sure it’s worth reviewing that game with the coaches. I’d probably turn it back on the players and get them to point out what’s gone wrong and what you could have done different.
As far as improvement on last season. It’s not even worth questioning. We haven’t improved yet had a golden opportunity to change the narrative. And wasted it. It’ll be with this group right up until the last six weeks of next year too.
But it’s on the coach??
We are going to hold the players to account? The ones missing basic set shots. Missing targets. Making simple errors.
Well isn’t the coach supposed to do that? Hold players to account. Drop underperforming players. Develop a suitable game plan for the cattle they have.
Yes and without a real process.
You’re probably right! But seriously this group of players…I think I’d better stop or I’ll probably get instabanned from Blitz. I think I’ve had enough of them…
Easy in Nick hind sight but they never should’ve hired him- it was a panicked selection based on reputation and fear of an untried coach- we abandoned due process to hire him and it has killed us.
Devo as anyone but some pretty weird hate being flung at the optimistic supporters.
Mentally Soft.
Can anyone tell me with 100% accuracy who is on the selection committee?
There are optimistic supporters?
He has zero ability to adjust. We are the easiest team to work out yet we can’t work other teams out
i’m not sure how that can possibly be?
Brad has assured us publicly that we are playing the style that gives us the best chance of winning games?
Spew up gif
Winning finals…
James Hird has been offered the coaching job at Port Melbourne.
Stay as far away as you can from here Hirdy.
Good. I hope he is really successful. He deserves it.
Whoops, forgot to post this earlier:

Mostly they’re a bunch of just ordinary smart kids. They respond to leadership and direction.
If they get it. Which evidently they are not.
Death, taxes and Essendon mediocrity
If Hird has a desire to coach us again in the future then this is a great step for him to coach Port Melbourne
