Then the symbolic meaning is more powerful!
I think it’s unfair to call the players one-way runners…
I mean, what have they done to deserve credit for running any way?
Has anyone confirmed the context of Rama’s comments?
Ah that explains it.
People just automatically assumed the bad teams comment linked to Essendon. Understandable mistake.
Was supposed to have been said on 774, whatever that is.
It sounds like we’ve taken a big footy inaccuracy of what Rama said and made it fact. FFS.
Really? That’s all that was said?
Clarified upthread by another poster.
That being said, I’m still standing by my rant because I’m still super ■■■■■■ about the club right now
Nah but we’re just rolling with it because its juicy and we can call the players a bunch of sooks and ■■■■■■■
I don’t want to make a bigger issue than I probably should out of this comment … but you are very wrong.
Next time feel free to tag me as well.
They hardly even ran one way
Donslaught has been a changed person the past 24 hours.
I feel bad for ■■■■ stirring with them earlier in the season.
Well relative to the above posts it was. He also said back in my day (tongue in cheek), Sheedy would harp on after the game in the meeting about 5 or 6 key points for the team and not have a go at the individuals. Then during the week or at the press conference after the game he would throw subtle shots at blokes “not working hard enough” or not doing this and that to the point where you knew it was directed at you - then he would watch those same blokes at training and if he didnt see a response, they weren’t playing the next week.
Rama was very careful to make sure he wasn’t giving the impression that he had the inside word that this wasn’t happening at Essendon, but he also has players to manage and would be careful not to put that in jeopardy… read into it whatever you guys want
I’ve apologised earlier in this thread for my blind faith for much of the season. Yes, there was banter and arguments back and forward … I wanted to believe we had turned a corner.
I was wrong.
Wow. What a heinous crime.
Personal attacks continue though when we need to galvanise as a supporter group right now in yet another crisis we find ourselves in.
You don’t need to apologise for being positive about the club at all.
We all wanted to get on board and watch the club turn the corner. There is nothing wrong with that.
It’s just disappointing that we haven’t turned the corner.
I’m no big Ross Lyon fan but when he went back to St.Kilda he walked in and told the playing group they are not fit enough and ran the guts out of them. Run, run, run, and if you can’t keep up your out. He laid out the game plan and he laid out the non negotiables. He selected players who executed the non negotiables. If you didn’t, you hit the 2’s until you do, or stay there.
In the meantime we have been wishy washy on a game plan, ‘We are trying this and this, we are not sure what our structure looks like, we are giving this a go this week etc.’ We are apparently process driven and have standards, and are establishing an ‘AFL’ lifestyle, yet our selection integrity doesn’t back this up.
It’s round 18 and the Saints were running on top of the ground, and it looked like we were in quicksand, except for Durham and Merrett. We had half a dozen that looked half crippled and shouldn’t be out there, and another half dozen that couldn’t keep up with there direct opponent (most of back 6).
Imagine if a young recruit was allowed to tell Heppell and McGrath they are putting in soft efforts and to pull their finger out. Their heads would explode from the sheer gall.
All around nice guy.
We’ve turned hundreds of corners. We are just stuck in Dodoro’s inescapable maze of madness.
