WEST Adelaide defender Adam Hartlett will front the SANFL tribunal tonight after vision emerged of him forcefully pushing a Sturt fan in the face on Saturday.
The video shows Hartlett walking over to the boundary line to retrieve a football during the third term of the SANFL match at Richmond Oval when the fan — Luke Grant — appears to verbally abuse him.
Hartlett reacts by pushing Grant in the face.
The incident was referred directly to the tribunal by the SANFL Incident Review Panel.
Hartlett will have his previous convictions including a three match striking ban from last year‘s preliminary final taken into account.
Grant yesterday took to Facebook and said he planned to make a formal complain over the incident.
The incident is the second in recent seasons between a Sturt fan and an opposition player.
In 2010, Eagles player Leigh Treeby was fined $500 after he got in a physical altercation with a member of Sturt‘s cheer squad at Woodville.
Treeby wasn‘t playing in the match and the Double Blues cheer squad later paid the fine for him.
In the same match, Sturt Football Club says its player Richard Tambling was racially vilified by a Bloods fan.
Sturt football manager Paul Sandercock said the fan concerned was evicted from the ground by security staff and his details passed on to West Adelaide Football Club.
Sandercock said Tambling did not hear the sledge and was satisfied with the way the incident was handled.
Sandercock said at this stage Tambling did not plan to make a formal complaint.
So the moron over the fence is going to make a formal complaint.....allegedly starts the process by abusing the player and then complains when he gets shoved (Not condoning the player's behavior but they must get sick and tired of copping abuse).
Maybe he can go all American and sue Hartlett as well...for pain and suffering etc...must be worth a few bucks (insert sarcastica font)
