He trains UFC fighters.
I’d be more interested to hear from Hibberd as to whether we’re training as hard as Williamstown FC.
That would be very interesting. I live nearby and Willy are a great VFL team made up of random jobbers and AFL rejects; somehow they make it happen despite working full time jobs as teachers, plumbers and publicans.
Best GP I’ve ever had was Willy club Dr in 1998. He honestly changed my life by eliminating chronic back pain I’d been carrying.
EDIT: upon looking it up he finished a 10 yr run in 93.
when you knock off your time by a solid amount - his was 20 seconds which is huge, that shows the work behind the scenes is helping. Hes most likely putting much more effort into it and most likely changed things up. sounds like murphy is very promising here.
ive been in a similar situation where i shaved 40 seconds off my best 2km time just to changing things up in the off season and training things differently. maybe crowes was the same bullcrap and their offseason programs that were given may not have been great im not sure.
40 seconds off a 2km time is huge Jake.
I would probably struggle to run 7 minutes. Cant imagine then taking 40 seconds off it.
Remember the year Laycock supposedly won the time trial?
Good times
Imagine how good the IT guy could have been under Murphy.
mine was repetitive sprints on a tread mill after a gym sesh 3-4 times a week for 15 mins a time 1 min on 30 seconds off. i only did it to try and lose more weight as when you do weights you burn up all your energy and then when you do cardio it hacks into fat storage! anyway when i rocked up for pre season my best previously was 8 min 40. ended up running 8 flat but over the next month i trimmed it down to 7 min 32 which is still my best to date. we did 2km time trials 4 times over 2 months but later it was found it was about 2.15km the run we did haha
must’ve been in the rehab group against Gumby and Winderlich
Would be interested if this sort of result is just Stringer, or widespread.
He didn’t seem to be covering the ground well last year.
I remember the 2006 pre-season when Gary O’Donnell, then assistant and 8 years retired, finished second in the time trial around the ‘tan. That’s when I knew that we were in trouble for that season ahead…
7 minutes?
I’d give up after 60 seconds because I’m lazy, unfit and because running sucks. I’m more of a ‘kick back on the couch’ kinda guy.
Nah runnings great, this morning i did 5 x 3min effort at 5km pace with 1 min recovery, supposed to be around 3:50pace per km, but sadly ended up around 4:00 pace. so maybe I was being a bit optimistic before.
Was ■■■■■■ cold tho 6 degrees.
No?
For Shiel to say it has been his hardest pre-season speaks volumes.
At that point though your running capacity doesn’t drop off - elite distance runners go into their late 30s don’t they?
If the IT guy had been doing his job, instead of running the tan, we would of had Dimma as a coach. A little laptop tech support!
