Sean Murphy - fitness muggins - well… bye

And it wasn’t just the women gossiping about the back oval and Murphy :joy:

I’m still upset how we treated Paige we didn’t even get any draft capital for her.

I’m not so sure. Jack Martin couldn’t get on the field under Russell’s watch. He’s flying at Geelong. Also have to remember that all these articles are from his perspective and probably a healthy dose of revisionist memory thrown in.

I will take someone who pushes the boundaries every day of the week, over someone who is conservative.

Done with seeing preseason training sessions with more blokes on managed loads than in full training.

It’s going around in circles, but l’ll just say the hill you placed your flag on that Vozzo and Rosa were as vanilla as you can get for Essendon just doesn’t resonate, with me anyway.
I’ll leave you with Dodoro being sacked and entrusting ex Peel Thunder Rosa for the role, as a seismic shift in the club’s List Management department, and bold for Essendon Football Club.

That is not what football teams are built for.

Funny you say that, I think about 2001 and how we had soooooo many players end up with soft tissue injuries throughout that season (and carry injuries into the finals), to point half the team was either injured or only half fit by the time we got to the grand final. So we’ve probably sucked in this area for 25 years now

The most attractive aspect of brining in Russell is not the fact that he has climbed Everest and won at Hawthorn, but the fact that he was singled out as a failure at FC and will be coming to us motivate with hopefully a point to prove.

Hopefully Murphy ends up at the Collingwood fitness department.

Cara saying that some people in the club wanted Murphy out now.

Coaches wanted him until the end of the season.

That’s true but I didn’t get the best impression listening to him, pretty much put the blame on the players and didn’t take accountability. I’d hope we don’t rush this

I’m guessing Murphy has a contract that expires at the end of the season.

Club would have to pay him out if he were sacked on the spot

The AFL need to look at raising the soft cap. Clubs would keep Christopher Duntsch until end of season to avoid a payout, and the coaches have a vested interest to avoid payouts too as it can affect them.

It’s dysfunctional.

They are raising it by 750k next year. Im not sure how far that will get clubs though.

The Essendon football club is pleased to announce the appointment of Jordan Russell.

As poor as the situation is, it still doesn’t make much sense to sack him before the season ends. I’d guess the board let him go early to appease the fans, even though the coaching staff likely knows that’s not a practical move.

It does make sense on account of IF we have players considering leaving the club / players with the question mark on IF should come to the club

And ideally have a new S&C coach that players will see credibility in committed to club

The programs are already in place for the players now and other S&C staffers can manage / tweak those accordingly for end of season
