I go back to the pre-season and, in particular, round 1. The regular training observers remarked on several occasions that there just didn’t seem to be any intensity in training. Come round 1 we all saw the results… the players looked slow and unfit… in no way prepared for a professional game of football. Were they chronically overworked or underworked? Who’s to say… whatever the case, we got it badly, horribly, incontravertably WRONG.
I will concede that our overall fitness levels (in terms of running ability) appear to have generally improved as the season has gone on, but we’ve been playing catch-up the whole time after that horrible preseason. I’d guess that playing catch-up has contributed in no small way to the number of repeat injuries and soft tissue injuries we’ve copped.
I truly believe this is a big part of it. A lot of our experienced guys still look pretty skinny and under developed
How many times have we seen a guy be out for what should be a 2-3 week injury, but they re injure themselves very quickly. I don’t think a lot of the players that are injured rehab or take care of the conditioning anywhere near good enough.
I think Murphy is complete trash, but the players also have to shoulder a lot of the blame
So two sides in 26 years and one of those was the best one season side in generations. The other got a great run from the AFL and umps to break the duck. That alone says alot that the place is a hinderance.
very simplistic way to look at it.
dogs and saints had what 2 flags between them in 50 years ? north albeit better moved there after the carey/stevens ■■■■ tore the shithole apart.
the mcg hasn’t exactly helped carlton/collingwood, and it’s only just started to help melbourne.
2 teams have had eras of success there in richmond and hawks, hawks are the travelling willberries and sell games to everywhere.
the ground isn’t the biggest issue/reason we’ve sucked for so long now.
Are you waiting for him to be poached by Clako?
As was rumoured when Clako was supposedly walking through the Hanger doors with his own support staff, and keeping Murphy
