GWS have gone 2W, 1W, 6W in their 3. Wouldn’t be surprised if they took another step, got to 8-9 wins this year. They’re only a fraction behind, adjusting for the age of the team.

They are Ablett behind. Let’s face it, one player can make the difference between 3 or 4 wins and 6 to 8 wins.
It’s not like we are talking about a good player, Ablett is now probably the best non-Essendon player I have seen for sheer output, consistency and workrate. He is beyond a freak.
GWS are only behind GC by 2 wins in real terms (ie looking at the same year). A team of 2nd year players will kill a team of 1st years, likewise 3rd vs 2nd or 4th vs 3rd.
I reckon GWS have a much more even spread of talent, from top to bottom of their list.
Having Ablett is fantastic but GC still have 2 or 3 of Shaw, Sexton, Aaron Hall and Russell every week. Spuds.
I don’t reckon GWS have anyone who’s anywhere near that bad, and they keep losing their bottom end kids, who are still more than OK (Aylett, Anthony Miles, Wiley, O’Rourke etc).

Caro gets a lot of her rubbish from player agents, too. I’d suggest someone in the player agent circle would be more likely to release contract details than someone in AFL HQ - brokers are the loudest mouths in every industry.

I’m about 90% sure it’s BS, but what would you give for him? If he becomes consistent, he may be EXACTLY what we need (Noone inform Benfti please).

However I can see GC wanting to trade him and using the “bad boy”/“out of control off-field”/“party boy” lines as a justifiable reason. Then wanting Heppell + Hurley + Zerrett in return for him despite all this, only for Collingwood to offer the 2 drug cheats and a third rounder for them to take it with no hesitation.

I much prefer the way GC are going about it compared to GWS. It seems they are building a club with a real footy culture. The list is balanced and full of talent. Anything less than a finals appearance this year will be deemed a failure.
Just saw this comment - how things have changed.
Also the comments re the Suns v Giants development haven’t considered that the Suns have been able to play the Giants, whereas the Giants haven’t had anyone coming up behind them. This in my mind means the Suns have gotten a couple of extra wins by default. Therefore I am comfortable in saying the Giants have at least performed as well as the Suns prior to this season.
