Season 2015 - Gold Coast

I think the Giants are behind, weight-for-age, but they’re a heck of a lot more competitive as a side.

GC either win or get blown out, and minus Ablett, only the latter.

Giants have always put in some credible efforts (even if only for 3 quarters). They’ve still got a way to go, but I’d be backing them to win a final first. Think their list runs a bit deeper too, when you look at their cast offs that got a second gig around the joint (Jaksch, Tyson, Sam Darley, Bruce, Whiley, Aylett ORourke Edwards Miles OTOH).
Can’t think of anywhere near that many from GC, despite being around one more year: Mav Weller, Hickey, Caddy…??

I was another one who thought Gold Coast was clearly ahead of GWS. I was wrong.

Giants have also got younger better players wanting to go there:
Mumford
Shaw
Scully
Davis
Patful
Griffen
Ward

Who do GC have?
Ablett
Rischetelli
Broughton
Hardbrow
Raines
Hellahan

I know that they have a similar amount of players from other clubs. But the quality I reckon is better at GWS (barring Ablett)

Who would of ever thought that a bunch of kids on 300k year living on the Gold Coast would get on the ■■■■ or dabble in drugs lol

Harley Bennell tried to fight Herald Sun’s Mark Robinson at Brownlow Medal Count

Suns suspend three players0:44
HERALD Sun chief football writer and FOX Footy expert Mark Robinson says suspended Gold Coast Suns midfielder Harley Bennell tried to fight him at last year’s Brownlow Medal count.

The Suns suspended Bennell this week, along with teammates Trent McKenzie and Brandon Matera, after they breached team drinking rules by drinking on Sunday afternoon.

Robinson, speaking on SEN, said he’d seen the alcohol problem at the Suns first-hand when Bennell aggressively approached him during the 2014 Brownlow ceremony.

“One of the players who were suspended wanted to fight me at last year’s Brownlow Medal,” Robinson said.

McKenzie and Matera weren’t invited to the count.

“I’m out on the balcony having a dart and talking with Jonathan Brown and he (Bennell) came up and had a crack.”

“You know what he said? He said, ‘you think you know everything’.

Jonathan Brown stepped in to defuse the situation, but Bennell returned later and tried to remonstrate with Robinson a second time.

“Then Campbell Brown came out … and he comes back again, Harley, and he has another crack,” Robinson recalled.

This time Brown — Bennell’s former teammate — was forced to intervene to prevent the confrontation from escalating.

“Campbell says, ‘he gets loose sometimes’ — coming from Campbell Brown,” Robinson said.

“He (Bennell) was just a little bit intoxicated.”

The Suns had just 24 players available for selection this weekend, due a shocking run of injuries and the club-imposed suspensions.

Why didnt robbo come out and say this last year? He loves the spotlight does robbo

It seems under Bluey, the boys pretty much did whatever they wanted.

But, Rocket is more of disciplinarian and it seems he isn’t standing for bullshit.

Rocket much prefers bullshit onfield.

Bluey did well with that team, and the bullshit off-field just reminded him of the good ole days in the west.

Bennell will go back to Perth anyway.

Though GC should be looking to trade with us, we did offer them Hooker + 1st round pick for Caddy and they declined it.

And.... Danny Stanley also found having some fun out drinking.

While a percentage of this is about setting rules / culture, there is a lot of ‘tanking’ about this.
Wait until Gary Ablett is ready for selection and they play him as the sub under the disguise of ‘easing him back in’.

If this were happening on the eve of an important game that had to be won to make the finals, none of this would have come to light.

Had to beat Brisbane though. L

Someone package Bennell and Garlett into a deal.

My respect for Bennell went up 10 fold.

Fark.
Another few injuries.
Seriously, wtf are they doing there? I thought we were stuffed with injuries during the Knights era and the early parts of the Hird era.

Apparently, their reserves team couldn’t field a full team so the opposition gave players as top ups for them.

I remember those days, playing mini colts in the Tatiara league.

*This ASADA/WADA crap has made me question every uncommon thing as a conspiracy lol. Or does this one have merit?
