My Prediction

Predicted by many to be a real contender last year with the recruitment of Ryder, Port were never really in the hunt. I predicted them as a top four team although I did wish them significant misery. It looks like the surprise they game the competition on 2014 didn’t last. Their leg speed and fitness were worked out or matched and we were left with an average football team.

Again they seen to have traded well, Dixon up front will give them a real quality target. If Butcher can remember how to kick that would also help enormously up forward. Wingard is a star but needs quality around him.

The midfield is class, Boak, Ebert, Wines, Polec, Gray and Hartlett give them plenty. I think with Lobbe back as the main ruck they may actually be better off. I am not sure they read Ryder that well last year.

The backline is solid. Carlile, Trengove and Hombsch give them height and depth although maybe not class. They have some good running players but I think sometimes they over commit to attack and leave themselves open on the counter. They were certainly exploited last season.

Without any massive change and you would think Losing Ryder and replacing him with Dixon is not really a net improvement, I cant see them moving up the ladder. I think 8-10 is their home.

If he’s a good bloke like Lukey, then all’s forgiven?

"Apologetic Jonas: I’m not a dirty player UPDATE: A REMORSEFUL Tom Jonas has apologised for the brutal hit which knocked out Andrew Gaff and hopes the act doesn’t define his career."

Did he call a presser?

I think what we really need to know is whether he’s a Christian or not.

or Sudanese

isn’t this also the guy that smashed into danger after the siren went like 5 seconds earlier?

Screw Port

Port Adelaide Best 22

HB Pittard Trengrove Hartlett
C Ebert Wines Polec
HF Wingard Shultz S Gray
F Neade Dixon AhChee
R Lobbe Boak R Gray
Int White, Toumpas, Impey, S Gray
Emg Cam O’Shea, Mathew Broadbent, Tom Jonas

Suspended (Ryder, Monfries)

Moved Hartlett to half back to create drive, but he will probably play midfield.
They have a lot of options in the midfield, hard to squeeze them all in.

  • Boak, R Gray, Ebert, wines, Polec, Wingard etc
  • Will require more of Lobbe this year as Ryder out.
  • Schultz will need to learn to play further from goal as I assume port will use Dixon as FF/Ruck support.
  • Im not 100% sold on my backline whether hatlett plays there or krakoer is in the best 22 is questionable.
  • also bringing in Toumpas is a bit risky, but I think they want to develop him, however he could end up playing SANFL.
  • backline players missing Cam O’Shea, Mathew Broadbent, Tom Jonas
  • Can Neade/AhChee/Impey & Krakoer fit in the same team.
  • Bit surprised Hombsch so far up in the B&F but I don’t watch that many port games.
  • Riley Bonner is a chance to play games and perform well due to slotting in at HBF is easiest position for draftees.
  • Will be interesting if Monfries appeals, or whether port offer him another contract, given they have Neade/Gray x2, wingard, Ahchee, who can all play small forward roles, if I was monfries would worry about job security.

Predict Port to finish 6th - 14th
They are just another middle of the road team. Loss of Ryder & Monfries probably just demotes them from chance of 4-12 to 6-14.
IF lobbe goes down they are stuffed as have no ruck depth. A few injuries to Port and they could have two bad years in a row.

Wagner is a massive loss.

Die.

Slowly and painfully.
