My Prediction
Predicted by many to be a real contender last year with the recruitment of Ryder, Port were never really in the hunt. I predicted them as a top four team although I did wish them significant misery. It looks like the surprise they game the competition on 2014 didn’t last. Their leg speed and fitness were worked out or matched and we were left with an average football team.
Again they seen to have traded well, Dixon up front will give them a real quality target. If Butcher can remember how to kick that would also help enormously up forward. Wingard is a star but needs quality around him.
The midfield is class, Boak, Ebert, Wines, Polec, Gray and Hartlett give them plenty. I think with Lobbe back as the main ruck they may actually be better off. I am not sure they read Ryder that well last year.
The backline is solid. Carlile, Trengove and Hombsch give them height and depth although maybe not class. They have some good running players but I think sometimes they over commit to attack and leave themselves open on the counter. They were certainly exploited last season.
Without any massive change and you would think Losing Ryder and replacing him with Dixon is not really a net improvement, I cant see them moving up the ladder. I think 8-10 is their home.
