Only took one season to figure out port. Dogs are for real. Oodles more class the port.
That’s what they said about Port. However I do think the Doggies have a more defensive game style than Port ever had, and the work rate to support it. Port were always front runners that fell apart when the pressure was put on them.
Port were just fitter than the rest, wouldn’t even call them front runners. they skill level and decision making is deplorable, so while you may be able to run longer than your opposition, if you keep turning it over coming out of defence like the saints game, and pretty much last year as a whole, it means sweet ■■■■ all.
Dogs, who knows if they are the same. they were found wanting against the top team with a few of their top liners out.
Are they just fitter and faster than most teams atm, and when they match up against better tactically focused sides will they stumble also like port ?
time will tell
Yeah he is. He is a bit stiff - but Weitering was Carlton’s best player on the weekend and deserved his nomination. Daniel will get his nomination sometime this year.

Port were fitter in that 2013-14 period, they won a lot of games by running over the top of sides, but as we’ve seen, other teams then catch up to that level of fitness. Their game plan has also been picked apart & for a while now they’ve changed nothing. Bulldogs seem to have better all round of attack & defence, seem better placed to go on with it, but their test will come away from Etihad, so time will tell. Plus Doggies don’t have Kochy so they are better placed there too

Weitering was the best player of any side so far this season in any sport.
For a team with only 30k members they sure have alot of people claiming to be supporters. Maybe the next time they have to get financial assistance from the afl they should get the contact details of these people and hit them up for memberships.
Seriously great effort to win the flag and I am very happy for them. But it ■■■■■■ me off when people come out of the woodwork when a team has success, but in the hard times are nowhere to be found. The exact same thing happened with Hawthorn, i.e. almost merging with Melbourne in the 90s after being so successful in the 70s and 80s and won the flag in 91.
That is what I love about Essendon, go through the darkest four years any club has faced and still crack 50k members each year. Whatever does not kill us will only make us stronger! When we taste success again it will be oh so sweet.
They have almost 40k members.
Watch that climb to over 50k next year.
From the club statement sounds like they got drunk and got into a fight with each other.
The Western Bulldogs Football Club confirms that it has dealt with an incident in the last several weeks involving two of its players; Tom Boyd and Zaine Cordy.
The incident involved an altercation between Tom and Zaine, in which both players were affected by alcohol.
The Club is strongly against any form of violent behaviour and is extremely disappointed in the actions of both players, particularly by the actions of Tom.
The Club has responded by invoking a range of sanctions and other measures:
It has required Tom and Zaine to apologise and explain their conduct to their teammates and colleagues
It has required Tom to undergo appropriate counselling
It has suspended Tom and Zaine from AFL selection until the Club deems it appropriate for both to return
It has imposed the maximum available fine of $5000 in respect of the relevant unacceptable aspects of Tom’s behaviour
Tom and Zaine have accepted these sanctions, and they have all been implemented.
Additionally, Tom has volunteered a significant personal contribution of time and money to a not for profit organisation focused on the prevention of social violence.
Tom and Zaine have committed to the Club that there will be no repetition of such behaviour and that they will atone to their teammates and the Club.
The Club accepts the sincerity of their remorse and commitment. We will continue to fully support both players.
The Club will have no further comment to make on the matter.
Clearly Tom didn’t like Cordy racking up a monster tab on his behalf, then when Tom confronted him the inevitable trash talk about being an overpaid hack and waste of pick 1 set the big fella off.
