Season 2019 - Brisbane

You know I love your work here HAP but you’ve got the blinkers on.

They’ve got a great young list. Their spine, in particular, is really young - as opposed to us, where our key backs are getting close to retirement and our CHF hasn’t got on the park for two years.

They’ve got low draft picks (as they have some tied to GC - I think?) and apparently they have loads of cap space too to go after another good midfielder.

Yes they had a good run with injury, obviously. But you’re acting as if they’re a middle to lower team who just fluked the season. That’s just not right.

They are so far ahead of us it isn’t even funny.

I’m not saying they’re a bad side, not at all.
I just think, until they prove otherwise, they’re “only” a middling to good team, who had everything go right.

We’re a similarly middling to good team who had (almost) everything go wrong (also see: Port, Dogs).

Seriously, take Hipwood and Robinson out for 80% of the year, take Zorko out for 75% of the year, Martin out for 6-8, then sprinkle a decent handful of niggling soreness injuries amongst everyone else, can you see them getting even 10 wins?

They had a great run with injury. Next year will be interesting to see how they gone.

Yep. Will have a harder draw + won’t get that same luck again.

I think if they had all those injuries they probably would have had 20 wins. Maybe 30.

They stood up to GWS though. It is when their ball movmement is slowed we will see how they go.

Why would they do that? Do they have better ruck depth or are they looking at better ruck depth? Seems strange.

Seems they have cap space to burn as well.

I assume it has been done as the player has somewhere else to go and they are delisting him to allow him to be picked up as a DFA. 11 games in 5 years doesn’t look great though.

Geez Johnathon Brown did well at the NEw York Marathon 3:14, not bad for a broken down ex footballer.

I saw it reported elsewhere they’re looking to rookie him, frees up a main list spot and moves $85k of his wage out of the cap.

Yep.

And Cats doing the same with Oscar Brownless, delisting and Rookieing.

Charmed run with injuries will slip down the ladder

or if their charmed run continues they stay up there

And to their benefit, having a good injury run means their best players get to play a lot more games (together). Making them a better side.

May Charmed Run come knocking on Essendon’s door.

Lets hope so cant think of the last time where we had a season with stuff all injuries.

2016 - the majority of our best 22 were in top shape…
