John Nobes = John Noble a Collingwood rookie.
Super easy to fake that, all they’d need to do is change the name of a co-conspirator and presto you have an insider handing out what would be inside information that would want to be kept super hush hush. Unlikely that a rookie would be so dumb as to leak sensitive information that would earn the ire of an irate Eddie.
However, it would fit the AFLs MO of telling a playing group that they won’t be playing finals weeks out from the finals.
There was allot of social media ■■■■ storm pre Essendon saga coming out for like 24hrs.
The silence on the rumour is kinda weird considering the level they hit the Joe D rumour.

I like how this creator of this text thinks it entirely plausible that a rookie would be disclosing confidential information to their babysitter, calling their teammates dumb kants and ‘loling’ about their club being booted out of the finals. That would more than enough grounds to get you kicked off an AFL list.
Would have been more believable to make the texter sound devastated and wanting support from his mate…
