I don’t disagree, the whole process is a joke.
I’m no fan of Collingwood, but after twelve months they should be throwing the case out and apologising
Was told exactly the same thing from/about one of our own boys, and never happened.
You may know something, but things change.
Hasn’t he provided a positive A and B sample, in which case he is at the mercy of the ASADA process, no matter how much we despise it.
I don’t think the results of his B sample were ever made public.
ASADA would’ve had the results of it almost a year ago, so we can probably presume it was positive.
The delay would be in determining whether he gets 2 or 4 years (which is why it’s dragged out; he was missing the time he’s missed anyway, so ASADA would put more time and effort into appeals that needed to be rectified sooner rather than later).
There is a story going round that players work on the basis that cocaine clears the system in 48 hours, he may have taken it more than 48 hours before match day. Whether that affects the length of the suspension is another question.
Cocain is a convenient excuse.
I’m going with real doping for this one.
The fact it is taking this long would be an indication that he is guilty as sin and will either get 2 or 4 years and the 12 months he has been waiting will be deemed as “time served”, it makes little difference at the end of the day.
No, it’s irrelevant to his guilt. It’s just an indication that the process is horribly ■■■■■■■ flawed
Lol no - his +ve test was for cocaine.
Test would’ve been done on the day of the game and therefore considered “in competition”.
I thought he was the one who got busted for a PED but was claiming it was laced cocain.
I heard it said that ASADA will be changing the thresholds of a positive test and maybe reducing the penalty to weeks instead of years. There is some doubt about the level of performance enhancement of the trace levels they can now detect.
Its going to be embarrassing for ASADA if they ban him for 4 years , then next year increase the threshold above the level of his sample and change the sanction to 4 months.
That was Keeffe and Thomas who tested +ve for clenbuterol.
IIRC there was a change to WADA rules in 2015, providing for reduced suspension if the athlete can show that cocaine was taken out of competition for recreational purposes and without the intention to enhance performance.
He literally claimed it in the mid 00’s.
I can definitely remember a rumour floating around that the players were watching ■■■■ pre-game to bump up adrenaline/testosterone.
No idea where it originated from at the time though.
Go on, google “eddie mcguire wanking” and prove it YOU COWARD !
I think he was referring to Carlton.
