Season 2020 - Sydney

Can’t believe you both missed the opportunity to say “your wife’s panties”?

Oh well, nevermind.

I have been married 10 years and have two young children… truth is I haven’t seen my wifes panties in years…

It’s this thing you hang from your orange tree to keep fruit fly away. They’re really useful.

It was the music format of choice before Sony mini-discs swept the world.

By ‘your wife’ I meant mine but yes, the longer you are together, the harder it is to find their panties let alone store them in a glovebox.

There’s an archeological dig waiting to happen in your glove box

I Wish I had a glovebox full of minidiscs.
Idiots paying a king’s ransom for them now.

From memory people paid a king’s ransom for a mini disc player back in the day. It’s like the old saying about betamax video players: the most expensive clock anyone ever bought.

The internet pulsates when Diggers posts in support of Franklin, and ripostes replies to any perceived denigration of the Swans.

Haha. A mate had one (he was always the “early adopter” when it came to tech…) It was actually really good. The quality was fantastic for the time. He had a bunch of recordings of Melbourne pub gigs that he did on it which would be absolutely gold now. Problem is he lost the disks at some point…:frowning:

I think the quality for mini discs and beta was much better than the alternatives. It’s just one of those quirks why they never became the dominant players.

You’d kill for my impact.

Correct. If you get a player as a free agent you have to pay their total contract out of your salary cap as scheduled.

If you trade for a player and they retire due to injury you can pay the remainder outside of your cap.

I assume because of this rule Sydney would rather trade for Joey than to lure him with a big contract. Less long term risk.

You may not believe this but my understanding is that Beta wasn’t killed by VHS’ perceived advantages, rather it was killed by the ■■■■ business. Until then, you had to go to a cinema to watch sleazy films. ■■■■ film makers saw the potential of this new innovation but the good people at Beta (Sony) didn’t want its technology associated with shtick movies. The smart people over at VHS said, “f@ck yeah, we’re in” and as the vast numbers of VHS sleaze films made their way into your home, , Beta’s fate was sealed.

Haha, I would believe it too. It was a huge market they tapped into.

Presumably the good people at Beta went on to buy Tumblr.

Edit: The owner of WordPress just bought the site for a fraction of that. Tumblr, the onetime darling of social media, sold for a whopping $1.1 billion in 2013. On Monday, in perhaps the latest mark of its decline, the site was reportedly bought for just $3 million.

Yikes.
