Well the AFL have made their mind up. Whilst there is no full fixture yet…we may not get it until February…the start date for the season is March 18 With Richmond and Carlton kicking things off.
Must say that leaves me concerned regarding the very short pre-season for the players collectively. It would be effectively 3 and a half months, instead of the usual 4 or 5.
The next question would be what would we like to see for Round 1?
For me let’s have Rivalry round.
Thursday March 18 - Richmond v Carlton (MCG) (Night)
Friday March 19 - Brisbane v Gold Coast (Gabba) (Night)
Saturday March 20 - Western Bulldogs v North Melbourne (Marvel) (Day)
Saturday March 20 - Geelong v Melbourne (Geelong) (Day)
Saturday March 20 - Port Adelaide v Adelaide (Adelaide Oval) (Twilight)
Saturday March 20 - Essendon v Hawthorn (MCG) (Night)
Sunday March 21 - Sydney v GWS (SCG) (Day)
Sunday March 21 - Collingwood v St. Kilda (MCG) (Day)
Sunday March 21 - West Coast v Fremantle (Optus) (Twilight)
Brisbane a week before Rd 1: “Yeah look, Joey is making great progress. He’s a real asset to the team and as such, we aren’t putting a timeframe on his return yet from his groin surgery but we reckon he’s really close”
Yep. We lose Daniher and Fantasia because they want out of Victoria and then 2021 is in a Melbourne hub. And they’ll be injury free. You know it’s going to happen.
We will likely play Brisbane and Carlton in round 1 and 2 next year, the AFL have a sickly obsession with high profile players playing against their old clubs
