Well there was enough smoke around this shitshow at the time that AFLPA should have kept the pressure on to find out information.
Has there ever been a worse performing representative body for individuals then this mob. All they are is a sponsored mouthpiece of the AFL and do Fark all for their members.
Channel surfing last night, l stumbled across Footy Classified for the first time. They were discussing this very issue. SWMNBN said she went and talked with Marsh just after some details of the camp emerged. They discussed some of the concerns detailed by Eddie. He knew about the camp years ago. While l am no fan of the witch, l would believe her more on this issue, than him.
I’m sure she knew the details years ago, too.
That’s both a sledge and a simple fact.
There were copyboys whose only response to how bad the camp was, was ‘worse’, so of course she knew.
This is the problem with an AFL owned media.
Demoted Betts from the leadership group when he voiced the concerns of his indigenous colleagues. Bet your bottom dollar if Tex rasied them hed be lauded as a hero.
Scroll up to about Tuesday night, someone has posted the book extract from The Age where he talks about the misuse of a ‘talking stick’ as well as other culturally unsafe practices.
you know it’s up to the players though. All the professional or semi professional sports people should start there own union and collective bargain through that vehicle. I don’t understand why the players accept afl controlled aflpa.
I’m still annoyed at the AFLPA’s lack of support of McKenna when he tested positive for covid. I’m not surprised they’ve bungled this too.
Re the cultural appropriation; according to an article I read yesterday they used a talking stick without permission from an elder, and completely disrespected the way it was supposed to work. Players (especially those with indigenous heritage like Betts) weren’t too happy about it.
If the latest piece by ■■■■ is accurate, the players should be calling for Marsh to be removed immediately.
■■■■ claims she contacted Marsh a number of times during an extended period and advised that there was more to this camp story then what was been portrayed, and the AFLPA did nothing.
So, again, she knew.
She knew, the AFLPA knew, and the AFL knew.
Because of course they did because they’re all the same thing.
And if there’s to be a head that rolls then obviously it won’t be anyone at the AFL.
It’s far more a corporate problem than a union problem, but…you know…you let their media division find the scapegoat for you.
