The club will kill me either by way of heart attack or brain aneurysm. Or both.
I appreciate the realism of our situation.
Got to factor in we’re in a far better position club, coaching and depth wise compared to last season. New draftees, all good and injured or unavailable players back like Tippa, Tex and Jones.
Definitely middle 6. And I look forward to returning here after we get over the line over GC and then absolutely thump the Sainters and RTB next month.
The Age has picked the best sub for each team.
Big-bodied former Carlton midfielder Will Setterfield shapes as an ideal fit off the bench, while Ben Hobbs , on the mend from a calf strain, can head into the midfield or forward line and influence a game.
As if Setterfield was brought to the club to play SUB! Hobbs also needs to play, not sit on the bench. Pretty dumb story by cricket writer Jon Pierik.
I mean if you look into a toilet bowl, you will find faeces. Not sure what you expect.
Depends on how much you were drinking, might be corn & stuff.
I think a big year from Stringer and we could win 11 games again.
A standard fat Jake year again and we will be bottom 4.
Likely 19 consecutive seasons without a finals win.
Good luck with this list Brad.
What are you drinking? I’ll have some please!
Another 5 - 11 win season coming up. Like clock work every year since 2004.
What a boring club to support.
Play the kids
Implement a simple gameplan but emphasis team first football including defensive efforts. Have the balls to drop and trade out players who aren’t willing to play team first football. The list has been turned over but still needs pruning to rid ourselves of bad habits or worse bad mentalities. Hopefully we get a new list manager as well.
I’m happy to tread water the next two years as long as we are making the right decisions to lay solid foundations for future success.
We going to call the season shot game 1 or make it spicy and make it May?
That will be the first 10 minutes of the Hawthorn game Round 1.
Ohhh @Crazy_Bomber you optimistic rascal. I’ll be like that when I see them run onto the ground, tumbling around when warming up.
Then support someone else.
Despite the 20 years of ■■■■, I think the fans will tolerate a development year provided there’s some actual development. More than the saga and the lack of finals wins, we’re stung by two recent examples of promising seasons undermined completely by a total change in gameplan and a lack of preparedness in the preseason.
2018 and 2021 both finished very promisingly, but in round 1 of both 2019 and 2022 we saw the team was lazy and unprepared while the gameplan completely retooled into something unrecognizable, unsuitable and unplayable. Some of us saw the writing on the wall with horrible pre-season hitouts against Carlton and St Kilda respectively, and alarm bells were ringing this time last year with the “development isn’t linear” comments. We have not seen a good honest attempt at a rebuild since Knights, and he was undone by his own god-awful gameplan, selection decisions and outside politics (if certain club insiders are to be believed).
Brad Scott has a free hit this year. I would like to see the team with an identifiable gameplan and a focus on contested ball, tackling and the 1%ers. If we overachieve this season, fantastic, but if we go into round 1 2024 having learned nothing in 2023 then we’re caught in the spiral all over again. I guarantee we won’t see Collingwood come out in round 1 this season playing a brand new game style, having thrown away everything that lead to their top 4 finish last season.
You might be new here. In our own way, we love this club. But the years of misery have taken a toll. Black humor (though most of it is spot on) helps us survive.
No I’m not new, I have supported the bombers my whole life.
My apologies if I infringed on a members only sad sack whinge club wearing the wrong attire.
If I see the same kick out strategy, coast to coast and red time goals, then I’m going to have the heart attacks as depicted.
For the love of god minimise those three, and I’m ok with the season.
I’d also like to bathe in the misery of terrible seasons from Filth and FC.
Same.
But I’ve given up on hoping bad things happen to Collingwood. They’re never down for long.
I know you’ll hate me for saying that
Don’t be a bore. Its bad enough the club is boring. We’re having a laugh ffs.
