Season 2024 - GWS

Do you want to answer my question or just call me silly names?

You are so mad at the world that no matter what explanation I give you, you won’t accept it. I’m moving on now, you go find something else to be offended by. I hear the Essendon Pokies thread is waiting for you.

How did I backpedal? I didn’t take back or change my opinion. Maybe learn what a backpedal is first.

Seems pretty tame by Mad Monday standards.

That has been obious from your first post.

If the Jarryd Hayne presentation was based on the graphic evidence on the public record from his trial, it wouldn’t have been pleasant and probably hardcore p.o.rn .
But he was later acquitted of rape on appeal.

Thrilling insight yet again Bacchus.

Since clone hirdy won’t explain, maybe you can give some insight as to what the joke in dressing up as an alleged rapist and simulating sex acts on a blow up sex doll is?

I don’t normally agree with anything Alex says, but in this instance he’s spot on.

If what’s rumoured to have occurred is true, it’s pretty abhorrent behaviour from a section of society (young men) who have the most to blame for the toxic rape culture that exists in our society and the ones most responsible for changing it…

If someone has been acquitted of rape, why continue to label them as alleged rapists?

Just stick to the Aus politics thread mate.

Setting aside pedantics…
Being acquitted of rape in this country doesn’t mean much, given the only convicted rapists are those violent enough to kill or severely injury their victims. The overwhelming majority of perpetrators of rape in this country aren’t held to any level of criminal justice or account.

Chanel Contos has some incredibly sad and sobering statistics on this.

Maybe in this thread at least, care is needed in the terminology used to ensure that there are no consequences

I have no interest in what these blokes did at a private gathering. It was not illegal and unlike you I do not judge others morals.

It is nonsense that this private party is even an issue.

right so you can’t explain what the joke is, or dont want to, like your mate clone hirdy. hardly surprising.

Interesting McClure and his colleague run with Idun issue as the main concern rather than some potentially more sensitive issues.

Greater Western Sydney defender Connor Idun faces a potential AFL sanction for attending the team’s post-season player party dressed as a slave from a Quentin Tarantino movie.

Idun, who was born in London and has Ghanaian heritage, attended the function dressed as character from Django Unchained, a 2013 Oscar-winning movie centred around slavery in the American south in the 1850s.

Eight Giants players are facing fines or suspensions over inappropriate behaviour at the players-only “Wacky Wednesday” function that also featured an inflatable doll and players allegedly dressed as the former twin towers of New York, ex-NRL player Jarryd Hayne and Australian basketball star Josh Giddey.

Hayne was convicted of rape and sentenced to a prison term in 2023 before the conviction was quashed on appeal and the charges formally dropped.

Giddey faced an NBA investigation for an off-court indiscretion before he was cleared by the NBA.

Three sources with knowledge of the event confirmed to this masthead that Idun was dressed as Jamie Foxx’s character Django, a slave who was freed in the movie by a bounty hunter played by Christoph Waltz.

The sources said Idun and a teammate re-enacted a wrestling scene from the movie in a skit.

Two club sources said that before the event, Idun sought permission from four teammates: Toby Bedford, Callum Brown, Leek Aleer and Harry Rowston.

The sources said the four players told Idun they had no problem with Idun going to the event dressed as Django.

Bedford and Rowston are Indigenous.

Brown was born in England and was a Gaelic football star in Ireland before being recruited by the Giants. His mother is English and father is Jamaican.

Aleer was born in Kenya to South Sudanese parents and came to Australia as a refugee when he was six.

The AFL Players Association confirmed it had made a submission to the AFL on behalf of all players involved in potential sanctions, including Idun. The players themselves have made no comment.

The AFLPA said it would not comment until the investigation had concluded and the AFL had handed down sanctions, which was expected to be as early as Thursday evening.

GWS was also contacted for comment but said it was waiting for the AFL.

GWS captain Greene did not participate in any offensive skit – coming to the private function as Olympic breakdancer Rachael “Raygun” Gunn – but is still facing a fine of $20,000 for his involvement at the event.

On Thursday morning Greene’s manager Paul Connors said Greene accepted that he “needed to be better”.

“Toby accepts that he’s the leader of the club and he needed to be better,” Connors told SEN on Thursday morning.

“But additionally, he had as much interest being on that Mad Monday as you would have done. He’d lost a game that he was up by 44 points.

“He was emotionally drained and not in a state of thinking about anything.

“So yes, Toby accepts that he could have done things better, but again, it’s others to debate whether $20,000 is too much.”

The Giants released a statement on Wednesday night and said some of the allegations were “distressing” and “contrary to the club’s values”.

What’s the matter with a black man going to a dress up party as a black man?

Sounds like they’re throwing him under the bus to deflect from the seemingly more distasteful and inappropriate happenings.
